I have this pattern to make as soon as I finish a few other projects, but was wondering if anyone has made this beautiful quilt (pattern by Judy Neimeyer). If you have, would love to see your pictures.

Can you buy just the pattern somewhere?? It's beautiful!!
(like I need another project lol) |

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!
I saw the kit but I didn't care for the colors. (or the price lol) Need to re-think this one, thanks! :D:D |
ouch...... I can't afford that.... no matter how pretty..
|
I just looked this one up -- it's beautiful. But to clarify -- the Pattern AND foundation for piecing is included in the $50.00 price tag. Not just instructions for paper piecing. Please correct me if I'm wrong -- but that's the way I read the pattern info.
|
Yes, the pattern is $50.00 but that includes enough paper piecing templates to do an 80x80 quilt per her website. Extra papers are $12.50 a package.

Yes, the $50 does seem like quite a bit. I asked for it for Christmas because I just couldn't spend the money myself. But I must admit, I really, really wanted it. The pattern picture is made with bali batiks, which I dearly love, but I think it would look good in other fabrics as well. I've made one other Judy Neimeyer pattern and really enjoyed doing it, although I think it was much easier than this one is likely to be.
Hope someone out there can post some pictures - maybe some advice. |

How hard is it to get a good result?

I am working on one of the Bali Wedding stars right now. The directions make it sound a lot more complicated than what it is to actually do the pieces. It is going together easier than my double wedding ring quilt that I ordered from Fons and Porter. The paper piecing helps to keep your block stabilized while you are sewing it together. Plus I bought one of the Curve Master attachment foot to use to sew together curved pieces and between the two the pieces are going together nicely. I hope to have mine completed sometime before summer. It just depends on how much time I have to piece between doing longarm quilting for customers. If you can buy the pattern/directions without any of the fabric that is what I would suggest. Or Keepsake Quilting has the Bali Bedrunner pattern to make a 30 x 104 cover which includes the paper piece pattern, directions and the fabric for the background.

Dont have it yet, but want it bad! but $50??? seriously, I havent found the pattern anywhere else either.

I just signed up to take the class with Judy Niemeyer next month at a LQS. I am looking forward to doing it. I am going to use Bali Pops to make it. She lists them as option in the pattern booklet. I also plan to use the flying geese border.
I went to the St George quilt show over the weekend and talked to a gal who just received her certification as a teacher and she made the Bali Wedding Star with that border. She says it's beautiful and it lays better on the bed, since it has square corners. I plan to make the 8 x 8 with the borders. She said it will fit a king bed. I am excited. Judy also samples on her website that her students have made. People have made them with different colors. The website is: www.quiltworx.com. |
OH WOW, and I'm too impatient to do a double Wedding Ring, I'd never get more than one block of this done. But it shore is lovely.
|
I have the pattern and on my "to do" list.
|
I have the pattern and am collecting fabric now. I'm not sure when I will get started. It's a stunning quilt.
|
I have the pattern & will be taking the class this summer to do it. Right now I'm just about finished with Judy's Glacier Star. Did the Christmas table topper in November. Love her style of paper piecing it is a lot of fun

Beautiful quilt. Can't wait to get the pattern.

I took a class from Judy Niemeyer years ago - made the Garden Double Wedding Ring - she is an awesome teacher and the quilt went together pretty easily. Everything is included inher patterns and they are worth the price!! I would love to take another class from her since she has a lot more patterns now. Go for it!!

I am currently working on the Garden Double Wedding ring quilt by Neimeyer and am having trouble putting the corner piece on. and when I get one completed and try to square it I can't. Any suggestions would be greatly apprciated.

I do love the bail Star and would love to make it someday by the 50 dollar price tag is holding me back.

I have not made the Bali Wedding Star, but years ago I took a class from Judy. Her method is FANTABULOUS and her patterns are exquisite. It will be well worth your efforts. Many use batiks in her patterns. I personally, am not a batik fan, so I would go with a line I was real partial to. Praises that quilting beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

I have heard that if you have problems you can contact Judy at quiltworx and she will help you. I have only made the 4th of July pattern and it was not hard. Directions are good. I also have a tree skirt pattern that I would like to get done by Christmas. |
I am going to do this for my daughter,My patter and the foundations were 17.oo when I bought it . lol
|
I am currently working on Judy's "Feathered Goose" pattern. I was lucky to find it an estate sale for $5!!
Also lucky in that I am using all my batik scraps, and so far have only purchased one background fabric. Her instructions are very thorough and organized. I like using the templates to precut all the pieces as it certainly cuts down on fabric waste. GO FOR IT! |
WHat a gorgeous quilt. I would love to make one of those. Have to see if I can figure out the patterns and make my own templates.
|
I have the pattern and am collecting batiks for it right now.
I haven't quite hit on the combination of fabrics that I want, but I'm working on it. I don't want to make it scrappy, but more planned. The other thing I am hoping for before I start this project is someone else, or several someone's, who live near me that would tackle it with me. I see you are in TN. Are you anywhere near Nashville? Anyway, I'm in TX and I have been thinking about putting out a message, asking if anyone else in my area would be interested in tackling this together. Maybe someone will respond in your topic that is near enough to me and that is interested. Have a Blessed Day! |
It is gorgeous!
Go for it! |
Thanks so much for all your comments. I've been out of town and haven't been on the computer much. It's good to know I am not alone in attempting this quilt. Let's all be sure to post our pictures when we get going on this one. Good luck everyone.

I just ordered the Bali Wedding Star bed runner pattern - not the $39.99 runner kit as it is on back order until May 12th. I have bunches of batik's and spent most of today cutting in to 2 1/2" strips. Still have a long way to go. I figure that I will get the background fabric at my LQS as I still have a gift certificate to spend there. Very unusual for my DH to comment on a quilt - but when he went in to my LQS a few weeks ago - he really like the 80" x 80" bed quilt hanging on the wall and called me over to see it.
