Has anyone made Diamonds in the Deep? Christmas for DH
DH and I were sitting on the couch the other night after a long day, and I was poking around Pinterest. I was scrolling through, and all of the sudden, he says "WOW! That is the coolest quilt I've ever seen!"
So, guess what he's getting for Christmas! :-) I've never heard him react to a quilt that way. Here's a link: http://www.bonjourquilts.com/navy-diamonds-in-the-deep/ I was just curious if anyone has made this quilt, are there any tips? Hopefully starting on it today. The big trick is going to be hiding it away in our tiny little house. |
Wow! I like it too!!! Pinned it to both my "masculine quilt" category and my "modern quilt ideas" category. I have no tips for you, but it does look like a relatively easy quilt to make. Would love to see a photo of the quilt when you finish.

It looks pretty do-able, don't you think? Just a log cabin - I'm just finishing up a quilt top and then I'm going to iron my fabric and get started. :-)

I look and see a square within a squares with in a square. Very interesting pattern. Good Luck.

Wow, thanks for sharing. You can go totally bonkers on Pinterest. Have you seen the she-sheds????
|
That quilt is gorgeous. Good luck with your project.
|
Love this quilt also! Very dynamic!
Have you found a pattern for it? I know others said it would be easy to make but I like the support of a pattern on most projects. |
So, you and I are in the same boat. I'm making a Star Wars quilt for DH for Christmas and I don't have the kit yet.
|
Very striking! Log cabin they say huh? I didn't study it that closely but I know I would need a pattern. I hope you enjoy it and get it finished in time.
|
I really like this quilt too! I can only find the pattern on her website, for sale. Did you find it elsewhere for free? I want to see how complicated it is to make :)

Janie, there is a click-link to the pattern on the website with its picture. Here is a direct click-link to the pattern:
http://bonjourquilts.bigcartel.com/products I would like to get it, but $12 seems a little pricey to me. |
On this page, you can actually see how the pieces are layed out. Looks like straight frames to me. It seems like you make a couple of rows of each variation, going from mainly color with a little white to increasing your white pieces until you have the pattern inversed, so mainly white with color. http://www.bonjourquilts.com/diamonds-in-the-deep/ Doing a google search of this pattern and clicking on the image tab gives you pretty cool color variations that people have posted.

My reaction to that pattern was the same as your husband's and so I purchased the pattern. I have it in my "must make" notebook. It is gorgeous.
|
I purchased the pattern, and so far have cut out all of the pieces. If I would have written the pattern, I probably would have strip pieced at least the first few sections, but that's just me. It really took me several readings through to figure it all out - but I seem to not be as well able to follow patterns as I used to be. I'm not old, I'm not I'm not I'm not! LOL
I'll keep you all posted - hopefully I'll have some piecing done soon. |
