My sisters are going on cruise, I want them to buy some fabric for me. Can anyone give me some idea where to go or have any suggestions on what type store in those places would carry fabric.

I've not found any quilt shops in the islands. Some places have fabric stores, but didn't carry much in the way of 100% cotton. Some islands don't even have fabric stores but have variety stores selling all housewares, some clothing, misc. etc and a few fabrics. This was several years ago and maybe things have changed.

I think those islands would import any textiles, so expensive and not made there. Bali is where you want all your friends and relatives to visit!

In St.Thomas I checked out a fabric shop. Not much in 100% cotton and what they had was what we can get stateside-costs more too. I also visited a fabric shop in St. John's. Mostly decorator fabric. But it did have some 100% cotton imported from Denmark. Gorgeous but expensive. Seems to be only the one store on both St.Thomas and ST.John's. I was disappointed.

I have never had any sucess in buying fabric on any of the islands.... and I have really looked. Found one in PR. and had very limited selection, not much in quilters cottons ( maybe 10 bolts). Mostly dress making and decorator. Prices were extremely high. Same for St. Thomas.
