ever used pearl cotton in their embroidery machine to give more dimension to your work? I would like to use a heavier thread for machine embroidery but don't want to ruin my machine. Thanks.patti :?:

never used it here, I prefer Isacord. It gives such a pretty sheen to my designs.....

Isacord user here also

What about couching? I think that is what it is called. You put down a thicker/fancier "thread/cord" and then stitch over it (not through it)? I do this in hand embroidery and somewhere I've seen this done with a machine too.

I'd never heard of Isacord - but I have it now on my "research" list - thank you for that suggestion!

Where can I find this Isacord? Is it readily available? Thanks all for the info.patti

You put heavier thread in the bobbin and work right side down. Don't know how much pearl cotton you'd be able to wind.
Think I'd go with couching. |
perle cotton is ok to use for bobbin work- it's a bit too heavy to go through the tension disks-
for bobbin work you just stitch with your project upside down= you can do a search for bobbin work- or decorative bobbin stitching- Ricky Timms has a pretty good video on the technique- there are probably a few on utube too- |
i've often wished for more dimension, as well. this is good info
