I bought the Thomas the Train panel at Walmart, it was a book panel, I made it patchwork, book page, red block, trimmed in blue, and alternated.

Sometimes these panels go for so much more than they are worth. At least you have a backup plan. I would probably not remove the stitching unless it wasn't done properly and just add borders making a QAYG (quilt as you go) Love the charity quilts you did justflyin!! I am trying to figure out another charity quilt to be done with 4 Mickey Mouse pillows.

I've taken them apart - washed the fabrics separately - and they turned out just fine.

Take out a few stitches in a hidden place then run your fingernail over the holes and see if they close. You could also stay stitch around the pictures you want to use (to hold the quilting together) then do the quilt-as-you-go method.
