Has anyone used Floriani thread? For piecing/quilting, not for applique
 

My LQS is having a sale on this thread, and I'll be honest, I've never even heard of it!

Have never used...but just bought a brother 1000e and Florian thread came with machine. Other people have told me it has the highest sheen.

I LOVE Floriani thread!!!!!!!

It is my ALL TIME favorite, the sheen is as good as any rayon
(in my opinion) and I love the variety of colors.

My goal is to TRY and get all the colors they have. Only about
110-130 left to get unless they add more colors.

You won't be sorry, but if you are still unsure try a couple spools
to test first.

I've heard that some sewing machines don't do well with this thread. Probably just the individual machine because my LQS stocks this thread and also sold the machine that it doesn't do well with.

I use mostly Floriani thread for my embroidery and have been very happy with the results. In fact, when I need metallic threads, that is the only brand I will use as they feel less like wire and more like thread than other brands. At a Floriani seminar I learned to turn the spool of metallic thread upside down when sewing to help prevent problems. Seems to work - but don't ask me to explain why!!

When I got my new BabyLock I also got 100 spools of Floriani thread. The colors are beautiful and it does have a very nice sheen.
I have had problems with some of the thread breaking while doing embroidery. Very frustrating since some people told me that it was possible to press sew and walk away while the machine does the rest! If I did that, I wouldn't know where in the embroidery process I needed to restart. To clarify it has not been every spool, but still frustrating since I don't know what causes it or when it might happen.

While I have not experienced this myself, I have been told that the dyes used for darker colors may damage the thread causing it to break. Unfortunately, I don't recall a solution being offered. Sorry. Honestly - I have about 75 colors and have not had any breakage issues......

It is a well known thread for embroidery machines, at times my machine doesn't like it, but it is well known and some of the prettiest colors. I use it a lot, but there are other threads that work just as well.

I have used it for FMQ, and it is nice thread, but it's pricey so I get my machine embroidery thread from Metro.com, you can't beat their prices, colors and customer service.

I don't have a favorite thread, my machine takes it all. Floriani is a good thread and very pretty colors. Every once in a while most of my threads will have a bad day and not want to work, even though they have in the past. When this happens I change thier position, usually by putting in a cup behind the machine and that normally fixes the issues.
