Same here. Batiks are an addiction. And also changed in interest in patterns.

I don't think my tastes have changed much. I have always loved bright fun fabrics. There just weren't too many of those available many years ago so I had to buy what was available.

I just recently cleaned out my stash closet. I had the same thing happen to me. My tastes have really changed over the years. I think now I will only STASH solids, tone on tone, and fabrics that read as solids. Also 1930's and batiks. That way I just need to find a focus fabric and I would be pretty well set for the rest of the quilt.

I seem to have gone from soft prints and colors to bright prints and colors.

I make mostly scrap quilts, and love mixing the old with the new...I really haven't changed my taste in fabrics...there are fabrics I love, and then there are all other fabrics. I have sewed with so many styles, and they are fun to play with, but I tend to come back to the more traditional fabrics for most of my quilts that I make for me.

Have always loved bright and cheerful colors

My tastes have changed over the years, love purple, that hasn't changed, but I like a lot of different fabric and use them differently than I did when I first started quilting. But whatever my taste, I just love fabric, especially the batiks. I've been saving batiks to make a Boston Commons quilt, but need to make one for my son and DIL first.

Me too. What she said.

There are so many new pattern designs and the new bright frabrics make them pop. The calicos still work for the traditional patterns.

You bet!

I began quilting in earnest in the mid 80s when country blue & pink were the hottest, especially in cutsie calicoes. Stayed there until about 10 years ago when brights crept in. Since I work at the prison, I spent one weekend cutting all my country fabrics into the size squares/triangles we use & hauled bag after bag there. I have grown up a lot in those 10 years! Now, it's batiks & more batiks & sometimes tonals.
