I bought a pouncer and I have tried to transfer a pattern onto my wall hanging and it worked ok, but when I touch the quilt to work on it the lines disappear completly. When I popped the knot through half of the pattern went up in smoke. What am I doing wrong??

Sounds like you are hand quilting.
It works well on machine quilting.
I like dissappearing ink but you must not let it sit all day or it will be gone.
Wash out markers work well too.

I worried about the washable markers not washing out if I took too long to finish. Yes I am hand quilting.

Try spraying your design lightly with sizing or spray starch after you mark it. Let it dry for a few minutes before you start working with it. It works very well on my chalk markings. Not a good idea if you won't be washing your quilt when it's done though.

Thanks I will give it a shot.

K I just use a regular HB pencil for marking hand quilting designs (unless it's a really dark fabric then I use a white quilter's pencil) and it works fine - doesn't fade even if something takes months to finish and always washes out no problem. Cheap too! :D

Direct sunlight will set the blue marker made to disappear with water. Learn that lesson.

I am agreeing with you right now. I just used the pouncer to mark a project I am trying to work on and I can't see the chalk very well. This is the second attempt/failure. I think I wasted my money!!!
I do know people that love them.......

I'm a little worried after reading this. I bought a pouncer about 3 weeks ago (haven't needed to use it yet). I might try and take back :(

I love mine. I do spray the quilt top with a little water before I "pounce" it and it seems to work just fine.
