I was wondering how many people quilt a queen or king size in a small apartment or small place and how did you did it

I have done a king quilt in a small space by dividing it into 4ths. You have to plan your quilting ahead of time to make sure that it lines up OK.

I quilted one in four sections and then sewed the sections together. That involved some hand sewing on the back to match seams.

Are you meaning the area that you're quilting in or the size of the throat of the machine? I just did a 104x110 on my dining room table and my machine has a 9" throat. Simple quilting, nothing fancy. SITD, straight lines, some diamond shapes on borders and it went well. Well like wrestling an alligator. LOL But worked out.

It is indeed like wrestling an alligator but I did it also. Don't think I will do it again. With all my complaining, my DH bought me and HQ 18 Long arm. I am in heaven.

I've done several on my older machine which had a 7" throat plate. You have to be patient but it can be done and done well.
