Have you ever considered using border stripes for backing on a quilt? The stripes run vertically, along the length of the fabric, and usually repeat four times across the width of the fabric. It would be so easy to hide the seams, because they would just fall in with the stripes.
It seems like an easy, "no-brainer" to me... but I haven't heard much mention of this idea. Just wondering... |
I love your idea, I'll add it to my "to do" list!

I've used regular striped fabric for my backing and would probably use border stripes too, as long as the colors were right.

For the life of me I couldn't picture what you were trying to say b/c
A. I'm dense :D B. I thought you meant border prints, like Jinny Beyer. I just realized I don't have one piece of striped fabric but that idea is a good one  |
Why not, sounds good to me

I love using stripes for binding and in some blocks, but hadn't thought about using them for backing.. Great idea!

I do use border stripes and they make really great backings... but it depends on the quilting that is being done. If I am having custom LA work done I like to keep the back fairly plain as to show the quilting on the back.. its like having a whole cloth quilt on the reverse.
I love border prints I would love to see more from the manufactures in the way of inovative patterns to highlight the uses. There are some fabrics printed that are spectacular but are what I call "heavy guidance" fabrics....and need just a bit of inspiration/guidance as to what to do with them.. |
I made a coffee quilt from the South Seas "Sip and Savor" collection and used the border print in the backing. I loved the look and so did my daughters! Once daughter took that one and the other took a coffee quilt I made from Timeless Treasures "Coffee House."

I have and I like to whenever I can find one that I think would look good on the back of a quilt I'm making.
