So sorry that happened, glad you are OK.
I wonder if it would help if we wore the quilting gloves when rotary cutting.

I didn't know they had a sensitive rotary cutter. How it is different? Does it have a safety blade?

My aunt cut the tip her finger off by not being careful. Took months to heal. Couldn't quilt in those months and it drove her nuts.

Yes, I tried to remove the tip of my left index finger, but failed. I was in a hurry to get a cake baked and cut some stuff out before I went to dinner at my son & DILs house. I was bleeding profusely and it wouldn't stop. My DIL is a nurse so I figured the best place to be was their house. I gathered all my bandage stuff, the cake, and drove with my left hand sticking up. By the time I got there 10 minutes later I had blood running down my wrist. She was able to stench the blood flow and tape the loose flesh back in place without stitches. The end of my finger was numb for 6 months. Moral, DO NOT HURRY when cutting with rotary cutter.

Never cut myself with the rotary cutter, but back in 1954 sliced the top of my thumb off when cutting carrots with one of those serrated cutters.

I think the question should be how many times have you cut yourself with a rotary cutter. LOL. I have knicked my self several times, but not really cut myself.

Yep. Once little sliver on the knuckle. I try to be extra careful. But, it really is dangerous when you think about what you are doing. Hopefully it will never happen again.

After a friend of mine cut herself using a rotary cutter, we went out and purchased an easy grip. Called...Get a Grip® Handle Grab Bar. This is actually used in a bath tub/shower. It fits on my large ruler. The suction is very strong and hands are kept away when cutting. I saw these sold at a quilt show and was able to purchase it from a harware store for much less. Bed Bath And Beyond carries these as well. Hope this helps.
