I have seen quilt block patterns on garage doors in our area. My garage does not face the street, so I never did it, but I am thinking about a decorationfor the front of the house! :lol:

WE have a large plain tin star over our garage. They sell they sell them everywhere here in West Virginia. I think you could print out a paper quilt design and decopague it onto a regular tin star and then seal it with shellac or something. Or maybe paint a design like a quilt block. Just Thinking :roll:

We added a wrap-around porch to our Victorian farmhouse in 1992. It should have had one to start with! If I remember, I'll take a picture and post it.

Anyway, I made a HEART patchwork wall-hanging to decorate the round wrap-around part - and we leave it on year-round. The first one faded BADLY, so I made a 2nd, and I hung the 1st on the back stairwell (the one no one but DH and I use from kitchen to MBR). Pretty soon, I'm gonna have to make a 3rd!

I put sleeves at top AND bottom. DH put small metal rods through the sleeves and attached them with cup hooks to the side of the house - stretching the bottom to hold the hanging tightly so the wind would not whip it away.

I painted my metal mailbox to look like it is covered with patchwork,
using plain acrylic paints. It's on its fifth year and still looks good.
