I take my squares, put my ruler on it, point to point, run my pencil down each side, pin it down, V OILA! Sew each line and cut down the middle. That's how I use it. Works like a charm for me. Edie

I have several and use them. But don't make the mistake of using the side with the 1/4" if you aren't supposed to. I did and was way off on a quilt top and could not figure out why. Then took it to the LQS and she figured it out when she saw my ruler. She said lots of new rulers users make the same mistake. Whew....
I just bought those and I think they will be neat. I had one from the past and misplaced it somewhere.
I have Deb Tucker's "Quilter's Magic Wand". It was a special offer at a quilt show, but I think it was the bright lime green color that attracted me. I can't believe how often I use it, not only for quilting, but also for scrapbooking. www.Studio180Design.net.
I have two and used them on paper-piecing which made life easier for me.
I don't have one. I just use me regular ruler to draw the cut line and sew on either side of it.
I got mine for $1 at a quilt show, bought two longer ones and two smaller ones. I LOVE them.
I use the quarter inch marker all the time. Makes sewing half square triangles a snap.
so you have lots of thoughts now
if it was me, and it was at one time-lol i bought some similar at the store that has coupons to make it less costly and not f&p brand. not that theirs isnt great, i live on very little every month and have to only allow sales on items. Of course If I didnt use them often enough I would donate them to whomever needed them, like the people in Louisana who loss stuff to storms and Nashville quilters as well who need replacements. However, if you need them and will use them they are useful!~ |
I have one of the original ones before F&P came out with theirs, I like it. I find that quite a lot of F&P products
are more expensive. Sharon W. |
I have one and then realized that all my templates and rulers and the 1/4 allowance.
I don't use them...I just use my quilting foot that has the edge guide.
I love gadgets and if I think it will help me then I am all for. I will be check into this for myself. Thank you for a great question. Now I will finish reading everyone's reply, and see if for me.

Have both of them. Used them some, but hate them.

I have them and use them all the time for drawing the diagonal line for HSTs. I use that line as the guide for my quarter-inch foot and then cut on the line. Of course, I could use any of my multitude of rulers to do the same thing, but the fact that these are small and thin somehow makes it seem like they are easier to use. I love them.
I love mine they're so easy to use and they're great even bought a set for my sister in law, who started me quilting
I like them.
I have 2 a short one and a long one. Use them all the time.
Bought one quite a while ago but have not had opportunity to use it yet. Think I will love it.
I do not have them but have seen them being used. I think they are great and much easier to measure and mark what ever you want on your quilts than to get the tape measure and pencil out. why not ask your quilt shop to show you how they work, then make up your own mind. Happy Quilting.
Have F and P, not used it as yet
I have had the longer one for a while and just remembered I had it - used on a HST and it worked great. It will get more of a work out from now on.
i have never heard of them till now i have always drawn the line and sew on either side using my sewing foot to measure the quarter seam
I own two and use them both, great tools when needed. I think that they are a bit narrow to use for a ruler. I feel uncomfortable using it with a rotary cutter.
I would not use it for rotary cutting. you could very easy cut yourself
if it moved. They are just good for measuring your seams. |
Have had mine for a few years. I don't really use it much.

I have one and use it periolically but use my ruler more often.
I tried these, but found it easier and faster to just use an accurate seam allowance in the first place. I found that I didn't take the extra time to use them. And I got the same results w/o them. But, I know people that use them religiously.
I have one, and have used it once so far, makes the job easier I think.
I have one that I've never found a reason to use.
Use mine alot----esp. for hst----I find that I am more accurate.
Have one, never used it probably never will.
warm quilt hugs, sue in CA |
Mine is from my local quilting store and I love it. Use it all the time.
I have 3 or 4 also, and love mine. Really great when doing multiples of hst's. If I can't find one, I'm hunting.
I love mine.
Sorry don't have one. God bless. Penny
