Have you heard of a Manx Quilt Block?

I saw this today and had never seen it before, so I wanted to share. It has the look of a traditional log cabin, but the assembly and final block are different. It also has an interesting history to go with it.

Very attractive! You have done it justice!! Love the 3-dimensional look!

I saw this being done and the woman called it a folded log cabin. She was making very small blocks. . Her pieces of fabric was very small scraps strips. She pulled a scrap from her light fabric zip lock and then a dark one from the other ziplock. Great way to use up some scraps. It looked to be as addictive as making hexies.

Kitsie, I can't take credit for the square, it isn't my handiwork, but I am going to try it because it looks like fun. I think that the neatest part of the article is the way the pieces are measured for the square using your own hand.

I've made a Manx quilt and I teach this class at the shop where I work. It is the most relaxing handwork I've ever done. The history is added bonus. I've seen this made in many different fabrics and they have all turned out lovely. I do not recommend using batiks as they are more difficult to hand sew through. Not impossible, just more difficult. It makes a nice summer weight type quilt. Try it, I think you will like making one.

Well, this certainly took me down the rabbit hole. Sooooo interesting. Now I'm anxious to try it. I have a group that gets together with handwork - this will be perfect.

Lovely and just one more I would like to try. So many patterns and so little time. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png

I was interested until someone said it is hand sewn. My ands are too old for any kind of hand sewing.

I certainly is beautiful.
