Have you seen this pattern?
A friend is looking for this pattern, does anyone know a source? She thinks it'd pre 1988. She's not sure if it was originally in a book or magazine. Her grandma made the quilt, and she's hoping to find the exact pattern.

Sorry, can't help you with the pattern, but it sure is cute!

The top half of the girl is one block and the leg block is added to it. It would be simple to trace and applique the blocks. The top block looks like it may have been paperpieced.
|
That is such a cute quilt! The top does look paper pieced but you could applique it also. Just need to know how to draw a little. Use your ruler. Lots of angles.
|
I was thinking it looked paper pieced too. She said the blocks are all different girls, that's why she was hoping to find the original pattern somewhere. Thanks for the ideas!

I actually saw this on a blog recently. I'll go see if I can find it.
here's one: http://robingallagher.blogspot.com/2...in-making.html if you search google images for pieced girl block, you'll find some more. |
My guild uses this pattern. They are on a string around the room. So cute....calla

I am thinking it was in Quiltmaker magazine a good many years ago? I remember seeing it in a magazine somewhere. Sorry that's all this old brain came up with.
|
You were right! She found it and was able to purchase the right magazine on eBay.

My mother and grandmother called this paper dolls.....think I remember it from the 60's???
|
To me, it looks as though it is a three section PPed block, the head, the bodice and the legs. VEry cute especially on a little girls' bed.
|
It was in a quilting magazine many years ago, it had both boys and girls! cute
|
I don't know either, but it's too cute!
|
If you look closely, the center of each figure is a triangle---top of head (hair) face, bodice stripe, dress are pieced in strips. Side hair, arms. legs added. Oh, you found the pattern!

Since it was in Quiltmaker Magazine, Spring/Summer of 1986 Issue #9, maybe if you wrote to them asking for the name of the pattern and the designer they maybe able to send the pattern to you or tell you how you can get it. They must have an archives department.

Sorry haven't seen it. its really cute

I contacted Quiltmaker Magazine and got a response from the original pattern maker. She is willing to send out copies of the pattern for $5. Here is her her reply to my email and her information: I ordered and have received my copy already!
Your request for the pattern Paper Dolls has been forwarded to me. In the QM spring/summer ’86 issue is a pattern titled P. S. Recess that has paper foundation dolls, I think this is the pattern you are referring to. The issue is no longer available, but I can make a copy of the pattern for you. The cost would be $5.00 for the pattern, if you would like to purchase this please call the number below with your credit card handy and we can get the ordering process started. Thanks!
