I know that some of you are organized enough to have started making your Christmas gifts. Have you? What are you making? I haven't started yet but am hoping for inspiration from all of you! Thanks

bjnicholson 02-22-2011 05:37 PM

No! I have a king-size quilt to make for my niece's wedding in October. I hope I get it done in time...I'm keeping my fingers crossed (when I'm not sewing!) Using the Warm Wishes pattern so it should go pretty easy.

GwynR 02-22-2011 05:40 PM

Mine are in the planning stage. 5 quilts and 15 bow tucks.

Wow! I'm impressed. You are very ambitious.

juliea9967 02-22-2011 05:46 PM

I am not that organized. I have finally finished some of my Christmas gifts that I was going to give last year. Does that count?

Tootsie 02-22-2011 05:46 PM

Well, I'm *thinking* about it...does that count?

toomanycats 02-22-2011 05:48 PM

I have so many projects to finish first haven't thought of christmas yet. Have tons of ideas but ......

pvquilter 02-22-2011 05:49 PM

No way, not yet. I have a quilt to make for my godchild's wedding in June. They wanted Black and white. Picked up the fabrics today. Can't wait to start. I also am making 4 quilts for the priests and deacons in our parish. I really want those done by June 1st, in case they transfer any of them to another parish.

alderdweller 02-22-2011 05:50 PM

Yep. I've got 4 grands to make quilts for Christmas. IF I get those done, then I'm gonna try to make quilts for my daughter, stepson and stepdaughter. I've almost got one quilted and have one of the grand daughter's tops done and will soon tackle quilting it.
If I didn't get sidetracked, I'd be ok!

Impressive!

Leann 02-22-2011 05:55 PM

Yes, I have started thinking about them. Does that count?
I won't allow myself to begin anything new until I finish my current project. It seems I am on the downhill slide since Christmas. Eventually I will be done.

toomanycats 02-22-2011 05:57 PM

hey, can I use the projects I haven't finished for last years Christmas for this one? it can't be considered regifting because I haven't gifted it yet! If that is the case then I am started on Christmas, sort of....

Cyn 02-22-2011 06:26 PM

These answers are too funny. I can't believe it's Feb. Time flies by.....

Patty Patches 02-22-2011 06:29 PM

Bow tucks are a purse/tote bag that many of the members have made. They turn out very nice. You can probably do a "search" and see some of them.

I think finishing last year's gifts to give this year counts!

Sounds good to me!

bamamama 02-22-2011 10:34 PM

PLEASE!!!! Christmas is over, thank goodness! Bah Humbug.

Sandee 02-22-2011 11:00 PM

Three quilts done for sister's grandkids & one to go. Thinking of smaller things for the adults. Agree with the Bah Humbug. I'm tired of Christmas. Think it should be every 2-5 years. LOL.

dhanke 02-22-2011 11:03 PM

No gifts planned yet, but I do have my annual Christmas in July project selected. It's the only way I can make any Christmas projects for myself, I've been doing it for the past 4 years.

toomanycats 02-22-2011 11:04 PM

REMEMBER Christmas is only ten months away! Each year I vow not to wait until zero hour to start and each year I wait until zero hour ..... maybe this year will not buy fabric and only sew out of my stash, quit eating chocolate (hey, I gave up coffee so I need that chocolate), loose weight and BE READY for Christmas early......

squilter 02-22-2011 11:17 PM

I am gathering squares for five I Spy quilts for 3 g-sons and two g-nieces. Hope I can get them done by Christmas.

cathylynn 02-23-2011 12:41 AM

heck no! I only just finished 2010's gifts the end of January. started some small projects for my sister but my little Brother keeps throwing an E6 error - tangled thread. I can see no tangles and have tried all of the suggestions from Brother's support. will have to take it in to the shop when I get a few bucks. not being able to quilt is the pits!

BMP 02-23-2011 05:09 AM

I have the fabric and pattern to make my DS's each a quilt for Christmas, I have started 1.

LindaKayCat 02-23-2011 09:46 AM

Haven't given Christmas a thought, yet. Have quite a few baby quilts to get done, plus I make 6-8 quilts for foster kids during the year. (They are for Christmas, though, now that I think about it)! So maybe I have to change my first answer, now to yes!

Rann 02-23-2011 10:43 AM

Was that a serious question?

sassy lady 02-25-2011 11:00 AM

if you get some ideas let me know want to start some small gifts for friends and family have made coasters napkins and placemats need something new

leiladylei54 02-25-2011 11:05 AM

Yes, I've started making some coffee cozy ideas. Got 10 made so far, another 33 more cut and ready to sew. Sew much to do, sew little time!!! LOL

sassy lady 02-25-2011 11:14 AM

please share the pattern

Mariposa 02-25-2011 11:22 AM

Nope-not yet! Working on a couple of UFO's first. Then decide what to tackle next~

nycquilter 02-25-2011 12:32 PM

nope, not yet (or should I have said "ditto"?). I have picked out gifts for my quilt retreat friends that need to be made first and done by mid-August. And I have two commissions to do first. Why do I need to work?? it sure gets in the way of quilting.

dyer804 02-25-2011 01:01 PM

Wow! Some of you are inspirational with what you accomplish. The rest of you make me feel better as I don't even have ideas yet, but hoping to get some from this thread!

quilter1943 02-25-2011 03:57 PM

I'm still trying to get a Christmas quilt for us finished that I started last year. Have two more to do, but I'll say they are for 2011!

Pennylane 02-25-2011 06:16 PM

I'm working on a cathedral quilt now and machine quilting a civil war quilt. But I have been thinking about Christmas gifts just not sure who or how many.

moonwork42029 02-25-2011 06:21 PM

I'm working on bow tucks also... have about 14 to do along with matching snappy bags.

Sure hoping to get at least 2 I spys and 1 bug jar done...still have a #3DGD quilt to start/work on/finish by mid April....and here I sit on the puter....
