Have you taken a Kaye England workshop?
 

If so, which one did you take and did you like it? Would you have preferred a different workshop? She is coming to my area of the world in the fall for one day. So we can do 3's or a 6-hour class. I'm not sure what to push for? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Yes, I have taken her all day class so it probably was a six hour class.

There are at least 12 of those. Do you remember the name of it and did you like it? If you could take her class again, would you ask her to do something different or with more emphasis?

I took the Star of Hope class. In part, I liked it but it was too long of a class for me. I would liked to have had more space in the class room to be able to practice cutting as she was demonstrating. It is frustrating crawling over others, waiting in line to use her rulers, etc. In retrospective, (if I had been familiar with her classes) I would not have brought the amount of fabric I brought to the class. But, with the handout sheet and not knowing what to ask in advance I brought way too much. For instance, 7 different light pinks, 2 dark pinks; 7 light greens, 2 dark greens... my numbers aren't from the handout sheet but it was several shades of about 4 different colors. No one that I know of finished a quilt top and I could have learned the method with a few amounts of a few fabrics. Hope this makes sense. The luncheon was great though! Yummy food. :) Personally I probably wouldn't take a classs again, I would buy one of her DVDs or one of her books.

Kaye England is one of my all time favorite instructors. She is so funny and knows so much. She is not dogmatic but uses a variety of techniques. She owned a fantastic quilt store chain for years and helped many people go into their own businesses. Brenda Papadakis taught there before Dear Jane. She lives here and when she comes to guild for a talk, the room is full and we laugh so hard it hurts. I would suggest a 6 hour class since she has so much info she can give if people ask questions.

I took a scrap use class from Kaye and it changed my whole quilting perspective. She showed us how a diverse group of fabrics that I would never have put together can turn into wonderful blocks.

If you get a chance, ask her what happened when the llamas and goats went on their little escape.

I have not taken any classes from Kaye, but I've taken several seminars WITH her and had a ball! She is funny, creative, and energetic. And a dear friend of Mary Ellen Hopkins, which endears her to me, LOL!

I have taken classes with Kay and found her funny and informative. I love her Nifty Notions rulers (and the TruCut Brand Rulers for making strips). If you aren't already ruler poor get them before the class and use your own instead of waiting in line to use group ones. She moves right along. Don't try to do a BIG something that is important to you. You want to be able to spend the time getting the techniques learned. Not doing everything perfect. Some people feel she is just pushing rulers but they really do work well.
