Have you tried "KT's Layered Patchwork"?
 

I just purchased the Pheasant Feathers quilt kit. Kansas Troubles is introducing "Layered Patchwork," it's kind of like raw-edge applique, best I can tell. You layer and top-stitch the pinked edges of triangles/precuts. I can't decide, has anyone tried this?

i've never made anything like that. just want to say how pretty the pattern is.

Love the pattern and the fabrics in the collection! Wonder if you can buy just the pattern? Do you know of anyplace that describes/talks about that technique more? Sounds interesting!

I just checked that site and they have the pattern only for sale as well as the kit. The fabrics are really gorgeous, just like all KT fabric is. This line has the prettiest black fabric I have ever seen. :)

I just picked up "icicle stars" quilt kit by them and although I love the picture and the fabrics are gorgeous I'm disappointed in what they're calling this "layered patchwork technique." I wish they called it raw edge appliqué that looks like patchwork so I would have had a better idea what I was getting.
I don't think I'm going to like this. Worried it will look like I'm cheating. Actually, to be perfectly honest, I feel like I've been cheated as the picture doesn't show enough detail to see the raw edges and its a quilt kit so I expected directions to make regular quilt squares. I couldn't see the "technique" till I purchased the kit and its not returnable. I think Kansas Trouble Quilters should have included regular block making directions and then included the "featured technique" as additional directions for this as an option. There words INSIDE the pattern book describe the technique explaining "We all need a quick quilt sometimes," but doesn't give a clue that its a shortcut fast type of technique on the outside.

Thinking I'm going to try to convert it into true blocks and sew it that way. I'd love to hear thoughts from someone who's done one of this technique before and how they liked the finished product. I'm guessing its cute, but not what I wanted or expected.

I'm hoping someone else has tried this technique and can share there thoughts and possibly even a close up picture.

I saw this one, too. MSQC's new video on YouTube is the Nickel and Dime Quilt by the same lady using layer cakes and charms. Same Kansas Troubles FavoritesII fabrics. I was interested in that one, priced it on MSQC and wasn't bad. Not sure you really need the ruler for that one, can measure center of layer cake.
Both are interesting...but I am a big Kansas Troubles fan! Love the fabrics!
The new honeycomb precuts are neat!

Something old is new again............remember a few yrs ago patterns making concentric circles and raw edge sewing cutting, re sewing........one it's squares, triangles...difference being using precut, pinked.......wonder if the crinkle cut rotary blade will do the trick?

a quilt shop in northern wisconsin was doing this with 10in &5in squares. I liked the look and bought some squares. I see that MSQC has a video using the same technique. great, I still have the squares and forgot the pattern. not sure if the ruler is needed, but sure looks helpfull.
