Headed to London on Wednesday
I'm headed to London on Wednesday for my daughter's wedding. If I have time I'd like to go to a quilt shop or two. Any suggestions?
Thanks! |
Wish I could help, but have a great time!!!

First have a great time there. I found this article http://planetpatchwork.com/travel/london.htm although it is from 2002 it just might be a starting point for you. Oh and here is another .... http://blog.visitlondon.com/2010/04/...ops-in-london/

Yes my first suggestion is that you stop by and pick me up then we can do it together, LOL. Congratulations on the wedding and hope you have a beautiful day for the wedding and you find what you're looking for. I can not for the life of me think of the name of a shop I'm almost positive it's in London where they have all these beautiful fabrics but it is not like our quilt shops in the states. I love to watch the great British sewing bee and I believe that is where I saw the store. Sorry couldn't be more helpful.

Ariannaquilts might be trying to think of Liberty of London. Their cottons are known all over the world. Have a wonderful time on your London trip.

Unfortunately you won't find many quilt shops in London, for all sorts of reasons - quilting isn't as popular here as it is with you guys, ergo there isn't the same market, the cost of having a shop in London is prohibitive etc, etc. Also, be prepared to spend around $23 for a metre (39") at current exchange rate. Although not a quilt shop, many branches of John Lewis (a department store) have a haberdashery department, stocking mainly Amy Butler fabric. I'd suggest you phone first.
Beyond Fabrics Stitch Up MacCulloch and Wallis These are a few fabric/haberdashery shops I found from our business directory 'The Yellow Pages' and have websites for you to have a look at. Good luck! |
Yes, I have heard from other friends who have visited London that fabrics are very pricey in Europe in general. Hope you have a lot of fun on your trip.
