Need some help with this machine until I get the Manual? right now I'm not sure which way the needle goes in etc. Any help would be appreciated.

flat side to the left in my featherweight.love my featherweight. use it all the time. so easy to travel with when I go to quilt retreats.

You also thread it from the inside out.....right to left. Love my featherweight!

The easy way to remember is the "D" of the needle goes in the same way as the "D" of the needleplate. And yes, it threads from right to left. :)

Thank You all who answered so quickly. I have found a manual and printed it off. My better half brought home a 1948 Feather Weight for me yesterday and all the parts are there just not in the right places. They wouldn't guarantee that it would stitch. Well, it is now stitching and purring right along. Thank you again for your help.
