I have over 500 4inch squares, gorgeous floral patterns, now what i need if you kind people can help me and tell me what can i do with them, apart from just sewing them together, i'm new to patchwork and quilting so i don't want anything too difficult, but on the hand i want something that's going to look good, at the moment i'm trying to make a quillow to practice with some squares i'd gathered, so hopefully any really bad mistakes will be made on that.
Thank you everyone for such a fantastic site, every evening i make a cuppa and settle down and look at all the new messages, am so addicted,

A trip around the world would be pretty. It helps if you have a place to lay them all out. Then you can pin them into strips if you don't have somewhere to keep them layed out until they get sewn together :D:D:D

I agree with this....it uses up those blocks quickly and can have quite an array of color design.

you could hang a plastic table cloth with the flannel (or whatever it is made of) backing and use the back as a design board.
Have fun designing.

quarter them, combine with neutral background, and make irish chain.

maybe watercolor if you have good selection of lights and darks, small and large prints.

edit to add example of watercolor. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-45890-1.htm

use them for centers of cathedral window.

Have some fun & play with them. When you sit down w/ that cup of tea, think of how you can have fun w/ your squares.... I find I can lay out a flannel sheet & start moving the pieces around, to see what looks nice next to each other! It's easy to roll up & the pieces stay in place til the next time you want to play with it. You could do a really fast & easy, scrappy-charm quilt, with or without sashing. Or you could make them the feature in the center of an assortment of "sampler" blocks... The sky's the limit -- studying them could help you make up your mind.

Got to go with the "trip around the world" idea. It is so much fun to lay then just--then just start stitching.

How many different patterns in the 500?
