Help antique Bow tie quilt
I have an antique quilt top pieced by my great grandma. BAck in the 1930's. I want to hand quilt it. It doesn't have a border so when I put the backing & binding on it will hide some of the pattern of the blocks on the edges. Should I add a small border? it could be easily done with unbleached muslim that would go well with the fabrics. Any advice appreciated.

Adding a narrow muslin border sounds like a good solution. You could state on the label that you added the border, but the main quilt was made by your great grandmother.

I assume you're making 1/2" binding and that's why you would be losing some of the pattern. You can also trim your backing and batting 1/4" beyond the edge of the top, and then stitch the binding 1/4" in from the top, so you won't lose the pattern.

I would add a border. Like grammajo said stateon the label what you did. It is still going to be changed from antique to a little help added by you. To make it look better I would add it.
