My sewing machine is nuts. It has the buttons that beep when you are in a stitch zone that is not compatible with your needle width....well, it is sewing fine,,but is beeping constsntly, even when I un plug it!!! Any hints what to do?? ( I don't have a "dealer" so that's not an option)...it's nuts!! How can it beep when it's un plugged? Must be a gremlin in there!!

katier825 08-08-2009 02:37 PM

There must be a battery in there. Have you checked the manual? If you don't have one, try searching on Google.

Lacelady 08-08-2009 02:48 PM

Even if you don't have a dealer, couldn't you try Customer Services for the make of your machine, or ask to speak to a service engineer?

Mousie 08-08-2009 02:58 PM

It does sound like a battery, but I am no mechanic.
Have you tried talking to it, and see if it answers?

Moonpi 08-08-2009 03:32 PM

What kind of machine? Does it stop if you change settings?

ScubaK 08-08-2009 06:29 PM

Can you explain a bit more clearly what is going on?
What type of machine and what are you doing when it starts to do this?
K

maybe it is the battery letting you know that it needs replacing seeing as it beeps even when unplugged. Our battery operated fire alarms beep constantly when the batteries need replacing...hope you find what is making it upset...

Shemjo 08-08-2009 06:43 PM

Have you plugged in back in to see if it reset itself? Maybe it will stop beeping if it is plugged in again..?
That would be very upsetting! :(

rdem 08-08-2009 10:17 PM

if you have a computerised machine and especially if it's under warranty
then you definately should get in touch with the manufacturer as it could be the mother board which is very expensive to replace :!:

I have a sapphire 870 and just looked through the books, nothing warning about a battery back-up. I do have my alarm warning as set on so that it beeps when thread is running low or main engine overloaded, etc. However there is an option if you have it on your machine, go into the set menu tools, and scroll down & unclick the alarm, and see if that makes a difference. I think you should always leave it turned on to warn you, but just as a check to see if it would stop beeping you could try to turn it off?

Glad I can laugh at myself!!! Now you all can. It was not my sewing machine beeping. It was my cordless phone with a dead battery. It was laying under a stack of blocks right up against my machine!! Gee Whiz I feel stupid!!!! But I had a good laugh!! And I'm not even blonde!! DUH!

Shemjo 08-09-2009 08:21 AM

Well now, doesn't that beat all!

I was stumped about the beeping! I'm laughing with you not at you, and I'm laughing hard! This is so funny and so real.

thismomquilts 08-09-2009 05:56 PM

Way too funny... glad you found your 'beeping' problem and could solve it so easily.

Teacup 08-09-2009 06:04 PM

Oh, I laughed out loud! I read it to my husband and he laughed too! It sounds like something I would have done...my DH agrees. I think this qualifies for inclusion on the thread "silliest things done while quilting" that was active this past week!

ddrobins1956 08-10-2009 10:15 AM

That is so funny. You sound just like me. I made coffee yesterday morning, just like always. My husband gets up, makes himself a cup of coffee, comes out onto the deck: Says to me, Taste this coffee, it's a little off. I'm not a coffee drinker as I drink tea, but I take a sip and start to giggle. I walk into the kitchen and look at the pot. It's just clear hot water. I had forgot to put in the coffee and my DH just pours himself a cup of hot water, adds his cream and sugar and then thinks it's a little off. We had a good laugh over that. We should both be a real hoot by time we are really OLD....hahaha

penski 08-13-2009 10:54 AM

That soooo sounds like something that would happen to me!! That's hilarious! And the added bonus is that there isn't anything wrong with your machine - hooray! Now...back to quilting

Many years ago, we kept hearing this beeping sound and could not figure out where it was coming from, BUT finally traced it to a closet and it was a smoke alarm's battery that kept going off. So, now we have the smoke alarm in it's proper place on the wall where it's suppose to be and not still in the box in a closet.

nursie76 08-13-2009 04:45 PM

ROTFL! That is priceless....and exactly like something I would do!
So glad the machine is ok and you can keep sewing.

nana2 08-14-2009 06:32 AM

This sounds exactly like something that would happen to me. There are way too many things that beep. Once I was heating my coffee in microwave and forgot that I did that. I looked all over the kitchen trying to find the beep. Finally gave up and hours later found my cup still in the microwave. I am glad you shared this with us. :D

RedGarnet222 08-14-2009 08:13 AM

 Boy does this sound like something I would do... LOL!

You're not alone!!! I had my son pull to the side of the road because of some weird vibration under the floorboards on the passenger side. HUH..it was my cell phone on vibrate in my purse
