My sister gave me a book on bindings named "Happy Endings" by Mimi Dietrich. I pull that book out for instructions more than any other text I own. It's a wonderful reference. You might want to put this on your wish list.

I never Iron my binding after I get it sewn on to the quilt, I also like the full, puffy look. I also never pin my binding, I just use the back 1/4 in thread line to judge where the bind is suppose to go. It works for me.
