Hi, Thanks for all the suggestions..I do have access to the larger paper...it's just that I'm tired of cutting it to size for my printer...Walmart has the Crayola doodle pad $1.99 for 60 sheets and I still have to cut it to size... I just found after searching all morning on the internet that OfficeMax has Boise X-9 16 lb blank paper/ream (500) sheets for $9. That seems to be the best so far...that's not counting the shipping or tax. The closest store is about 80 miles away. they closed all the stores in NJ...Maybe I'll just add ink to get the free shipping. Again, thanks H.

Dick Blick has it by the ream (500 sheets) in many sizes - 8½x11, 9x12, 12x18, 18x24, and 24x36. The 8½x11 ream is $3.04.

Do call the local paper, when we lived in NH we bought end of rolls for packing paper. Never thought to use it for paper piecing - still have some somewhere.

i purchase 30" wide roll ends from the local newspaper- they have ALOT of paper on them! and cost $22
one roll lasts me almost 10 years! we use it for lots of things- wrapping packages- wedding banners- paper piecing- pattern making- the kids roll out a big ole piece & lay on the floor coloring---it lasts & lasts! great deal.
they also sell a wider roll but i've only purchased the 30" wide ones.

Yes, that is where I got mine! It is already cut to size (time is money to me!). I got two reams which will last quite a while. Shipping was reasonable also.

I got pads of newsprint, 60 - 9x12 sheets at the dollar store. Works for me. :)

I purchased reams of 8 1/2 x 11" vellum for paper piecing. It works out to about $10/100 sheets. It's more expensive than newsprint, but I love it for paper piecing. PM me if you want the details.

Holy Moley! Fifty dollars for a ream of vellum? Try the Papermill Store...they have it for less than half that. http://www.thepapermillstore.com/car...-per-ream.html

That vellum is too heavy for paper piecing; it's more appropriate for wedding invites and such. The paper I use is from Neenah. It's about $40/ream, plus shipping. I've used every other paper for paper piecing and you can't beat this vellum for precision points. I'm in the quilt design star contest and just finished paper piecing a 60 x 60" quilt. Yay for vellum!
