Help with block name

Fair Warning: This is going to be an irritating question ;-).

Either on Pinterest or Google Images, I saw a block alternating with a 54/40 or fight block. This alternating block looked greatly like a Jacob's Ladder except that the center squares looked like they were sort of overflowing the center. I thought I'd saved the block but for the life of me, I can't find it. Does anyone know what I'm speaking of? If you don't know it's name, do you have a link? I am also having trouble picturing it.

I searched and searched online and even checked all of my block books. I can't find it again.

Any help appreciated.

Are you thinking of this one?

BTW, the second block is shoofly.

Here's another one with 54/40 and Churn Dash.

There's another one...Celtic Solstice by Bonnie Hunter.

Thanks for the help. None of the three are what I had in mind, but they are beautiful quilts!

Without a link, it is difficult to help. Good Luck. Check your browsing history if you still have it.

How about this one? It's a shot in the dark. http://www.quilterscache.com/L/Light...chenBlock.html

Go to Google Image and do a search for 54/40 quilt block there might be some more.

I did that. Spent several hours trying to retrace my steps, to no avail.

I also tried my browser cache. But I found the block via a Google search where I branched out, and I could have navigated anywhere.

Someone on this board once posted the block. I have no idea which thread it was in. I remember people asking "what block is that?" It was kind of inttiguing.

Like I said, it's sort of a Jacob's Ladder, but where it looks like center squares multiplied and escaped.

Maybe the person who posted the block on the board at one point will see this and post it again!

Also, it's not a 54/40, but a block that goes nicely with a 54/40 as an alternating block. It helps form a nice secondary pattern, but where the star in the 54/40 don't disappear.

TeresaA 07-07-2016 07:49 AM

Oops, bad editing. *don't = doesn't. I went from saying stars to star without fixing my modifier. ::embarrassed::

Maybe the Tennessee Waltz layout...it's a 54/40 block with snowball block.

I think I found it: It's with the block Corn and Beans. https://www.pinterest.com/kathynorrod/quilt-patterns/

The quilt was pinned to Pinterest from this board. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/481744491371122117/

TeresaA 07-07-2016 03:49 PM

Sigh, it’s neither corn and beans nor shoo fly. But thank you!

TeresaA 07-07-2016 03:50 PM

I believe it has about a 16 patch in the middle, or maybe it's just a nine patch. Then it has triangles in the corners. Maybe I should try and draft it and see if I can come up with it.

Patrice posted this one a long while back. I don't think it's the one you're asking for but its worth a try.

I think Cathedral Stars by Bonnie Hunter may be what you want. The Quilting Board had this recent photo:
