Help with Bow Tuck Bag Pattern
 

I really need someone's help. I am 1400 miles from home and my patterns, and a friend just emailed me and asked me if I would make her a Bow Tuck Bag. I have the pattern at home but don't remember the fabric requirements. If someone has the pattern and has time, would you please let me know the fabric requirement for the bottom, top, lining and pockets. I have plenty of interfacing at home, so don't need that information. Since I'll stop by Joann's on my way home, I can get the fabric then. If I wait until I get home to check the pattern I'll either have to order the fabric on line or drive at least 40 miles to the nearest fabric shop. She wants one with the black bottom portion and a black and white print top portion, and since that sounds really, really pretty, I'll no doubt be making one for me too! Thank you so much for the help.

For the mini bow tucks fabric requirements are:
1 yard for outer top, front pocket, ties, inner pockets and handles
1 fat quarter for bottom section and front pocket lining
1/2 yard for lining
1 1/4 yard fusible batting

I hope this helps you I'm in a similar situation for fabric. I also have to drive 40-60 miles to get to a fabric shop. It sounds like it'll be pretty.

I made one in similiar outside fabrics but I put so e red inside.

Red is what I'm planning for the lining also.

After living 15 minutes from several fabric shops, then moving to a very rural area where there are none close, I just have to take advantage of any opportunity when I'm near a fabric shop. I have to admit, I'll take my place in the country and all that goes with it over the big city any day. Thanks again. I really appreciate you going to the trouble of checking that for me.

Does anyone know of an easy pattern to do a bow tuck? I would love to do one but they look so hard to do.

If you buy the original Bow Tucks Bag pattern it's very easy to do. The designer is Penny Sturgis, so just google her name. I've made several and after the first one it was pretty simple. I think I've learned something on every one. The free patterns out there are just not the same.

Evy, it was no problem because I actually knew exactly where the pattern was. On my cutting table with some Kansas Jayhawks fabric I had just cut to make one. LOL.

The Bow Tucks Tote pattern by Quilts Illustrated is a great tote bag to carry all your belongings, including water bottle, camera, and even your baby's supplies. Finished size is 13" x 11" x 5".

Materials Needed:
• Top main section - 1/3 yd
• Contrasting bottom, handles, side ties, button loop, and front pocket lining - 2/3 yd
• Front pocket - 1 fat quarter
• Lining for entire inside - 1/2 yd
• Inside pockets - 1/3 yd
• Cover for bottom insert - use scraps or a fat quarter
• 1 - 1" or larger button
• Shoulder handles is a 5" x width of fabric piece if not using contrasting bottom fabric
• Pellon fusible fleece - 2 yds Heavy cardboard or Matte board for bottom
