So I made up a top and loved the pattern so much I made it again the next week. But this is what happened - when I framed each of the blocks with the dark purple strip, the blocks had stretched and now they dont sit flat. I cut the dark purple strips exactly to the right size. I think that perhaps the light pink fabric was not as good quality as the fabric I had used on the first quilt top, and that is why it stretched.

Without unpicking it, is this salvagable? Will it sit flatter after I quilt it? I cant get onto anything else until I decide what to do with this one. Help please!

try using spray starch and give it a really good pressing before you start picking stitches out. Somethings that will give it the body it needs to lie flat.

Depends. I have had this happen. But when I had it quitled on a long arm, the puffy disappeared. YOu can take a chance. Even handquilting should take up teh slack. It is a beautiful quilt. Hope you work it out. YOu know Cathy MIller's song "You can Quilt that out". LOL

You could try blocking it.
Dampen it then pin it out flat (stretch it if you have to to make it square) on the floor or a bed and let it dry.

Press and lay it flat...

After some of the postings lately, I am almost afraid to say this. The starch will help, but if you really want to tame it and make it lay flat I would quilt quite close, maybe even a stiple around the stretched areas. Just my opinion.

I hope so as it is beautiful! Good luck. All the above suggestions are good ones.

Your blocks are pretty! I would try the starch and some team and press the heck out of it. I may not lay flat.

I would press the heck out of it, possibly with spray strach, go with a medium loft batting, pin baste it heavily, and then do an all-over, fairly tight quilting. If you're concerned about squaring up the final thing, add on some plain-ish borders that will not show if you have to trim them down to square it up.
