Help Choosing Binding Please!

I bought this adorable panel last week that came with binding and border fabric, I have decided to alter their pattern a little and will end up using the binding fabric and thus need to buy something else for the binding. Here are the two options, both are from the same line as the panel but I can't decide which I like better and would love some opinions.

I attached a picture of the panel, a photoshopped picture of what I plan to do with the panel and a photo of the two binding fabric options (the blue with fish or the white with dots)

the darker, I think.

BellaBoo 01-18-2013 07:01 AM

Lighter for me because there is more contrast in the fabric that will make the binding pop.

Skinny border of light..dark binding?

grammy Dwynn 01-18-2013 07:18 AM

Darker one! Crqltr idea a possibility, too.

i will go with the light border because of the contrast with the green body of the quilt. the color of the fish might make a nice binding.

Either or ok I know not much help. I also like the first layout with the blocks on top and bottom. For me I would use the dark for the binding as it seems to show dirt first...JMHO

Both are great choices! I guess if I had to choose I would go with the light.

I like the first layout best. I would use the lighter for a small border, if you have enough, then the darker for binding.

QuiltnNan 01-18-2013 08:43 AM

i would use the blue fish

This is what I thought too. I know you didn't ask for border opinions, but if adding borders is an option, I'd add a white border and dark binding. If not, I like the white binding.

I vote for blue fish binding. Cute panel!

I like this idea as well. Or just the darker binding.

BellaBoo 01-18-2013 09:44 AM

The inside border is light. The light binding will make the quilt be cohesive in the way the color travels.

Exactly what I was thinking-for the border. Then darker for the binding. The lighter border makes your eyes keep moving back to the froggies instead of just stopping. The darker binding puts it all together and frames it.

This is actually what they intend you to do with the kit (it didnt come with instructions, just pieces of fabric with labels of "binding" "border" and "backing". Originally I didn't like the look of the wide borders on the sides but I am actually liking it more now that I see it with the borders. The fabric they give for the binding is the same green as in the top

Cute quilt and I like the fish fabric for the binding.

ArtsyOne 01-18-2013 10:51 AM

Of the four images attached by mmdancer, I really like the top right.

First layout, and I would use the dot fabric on the long sides and the darker for the top and bottom.

How about a border in the dots and binding in blue. Love this little quilt.

Just look at how the center is bordered and you can repeat some of that look. I don't think all those borders are needed but it would be cool!

wraez 01-18-2013 01:21 PM

LOVE the circles! If it were my quilt, I would use the circles for binding and a darker fabric for a smaller border .. OR even vice versa I think. But LOVE those circles / dots!

Cybrarian 01-18-2013 08:40 PM

I'm in the light border blue fish binding camp.

DebraK 01-19-2013 06:08 AM

I like this one too.
