Hi ladies!
i'm new here, hope i'm posting in the right section! i've recently become interested in doing some quilting. after moving countries a few weeks ago and not being able to bring my old sewing machine (standard thing) with, i've taken the opportunity to buy a newer better one!

i need a good priced machine that will sew basic things as well as quilting. does anyone have any links or recommendations for me?

I would say, look for an old iron horse. I have a beautiful, all metal SewMor and and a Singer 15-91 that I just adore. I piece and quilt on both of them. Any vintage brand that are heavy, and have all metal parts will last you forever.

We have a great Search feature at the top. I know there are a bunch of threads already about folks who just love their machines to death and why. I'm kind of thinking you might want some more transportable since you move? If not the vintage machines can be great, in fact, I'm looking for a 15-91 myself, but I also have a FW and Bernina 153 that are my main machines now. I like the "Nina, but I can't recommend it for FMQ (and if you're not up on the abreviations, some one also put together a list you can find thru Search). Have fun with your search.
