McCalls Quilting has some cute easy patterns.
Also check out the manufacturers websites for free patterns. They list which ones are easy.
I'm sure someone here will give you a list of sites, I don't have them off hand, would have to search for them.
Also, check out fat quarter patterns too, they are pretty easy.

Oh, and I'm mad at you because you showed me this site. NOW I HAVE TO SPEND MONEY!! lol just kidding.... I LOVE BUYING FABRIC and the price is awesome!!

tlrnhi 06-04-2008 03:01 AM

OMG!!!
There are some awesome prices on that site, but no way am I ordering from them.
They want $49.50 to ship to me!
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!
I changed my address to my daughter's in Hawaii and that is only $10.50.

You can bet your bippy I sent them an e-mail "schooling" them about Guam and that we use the US Post Office.
It does get a bit tiring having to do that, but I've had to do it for the past 12 years living in Hawaii. Had a lady tell me that she had to use AIRMAIL rates to ship to me because it flew over the ocean. ARGH!!! IDIOTS AT TIMES!!!!!!!!!

Ok, rant is done for the moment.......

kyssyfur 06-04-2008 04:07 AM

*lol* THat is ok. I use to live in Montana and people would ask me all the time if we still had the pony express, how did they manage to get packages to us etc....

Good thing we live in an enlightened world. :?

I had a friend come visit me in Hawaii.
She called me before she came and asked me if she needed to convert money. THEN...when she got there, she asked me to show her where the REAL Hawaiian lived. Meaning....grass huts! lmao

Do you want to make a baby quilt with the animals fabric? You could fussy cut the "Animals" in the ovals and use the "Baby Bloomers" to do attic windows or Box Quilt and use one or both of the other "Animals" for the border(s). Wonderful fabrics and prices!

Roben 06-04-2008 06:40 AM

I came to the same conclusion as DJ - fussy cut for the oval animal fabric and borders for the second. As a fellow beginner :-) I recommend Eleanor Burns patterns - easy to follow directions and most things are oversized, so you can square them up (more forgiving to newbies, I think!) She has videos on QuiltersTv, and you can check out the Quilt in a Day website for different patterns and books.

OK, you all!!

I am NOT supposed to be buying fabric---but this site had some AWESOME deals.

What is a girl supposed to do?!!!

kyssyfur 06-04-2008 08:36 AM

I am not familiar with the term "fussy cut". What is it? I love looking at fabrics but I never sure what patterns they would look good with. I can tell you afterwards or looking at someone else what fabric they shouldn't have used but that doesn't count ehehhe

Moonpi 06-04-2008 08:59 AM

Fussy cutting is when you cut a fabric to get the printed pattern, without regard to which way the weave goes. You see a lot of it in applique and in squares cut as centers of blocks. It brings out the best of the print. Be sure to leave enough room for seam allowances if you are piecing it.

Ok, I e-mailed that company "schooling" them on postal rates.
I got back a reply.......

Hi Terri,
Good news! My developer has made the necessary programming changes to the system and added Guam to shipping module, so it will now reflect the correct rates. If you decide to place your order again, it will be the same rates as our other customers in the USA. Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention.
Kindest regards,

So, I may be doing shopping there after all.
Just need to go back and see if they REALLY changed their rates.

tlrnhi 06-04-2008 02:07 PM

Ok, so I went back to the site, they changed the rates. YIPPEE!
But, ALOT of the 2.95 fabric is GONE!
So, if ya want some, better get it now!

Cordelia 06-04-2008 02:30 PM

I've been so busy, I haven't had time to do much on the board today.

But, I'll give you some nice pattern choices! Check back in this thread tomorrow night.

:D

You rock!

tlrnhi 06-04-2008 09:09 PM

Ya know...sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do, right? lol

The lady was really apologetic in her e-mails to me. Not realizing the shipping costs. I'm glad ONE company has changed.

Barbm 06-05-2008 03:56 AM

yeah! more fabric for Terri!

tlrnhi 06-05-2008 04:28 AM

wraez 06-09-2008 11:53 AM
