I have my 60% coupon from Joann's and I was thinking of buying batting but I have never purchased it by the yard. What is the best all purpose batting to get?

justwannaquilt 05-17-2011 05:47 AM

I will ONLY use Warm and Natural but thats just me! I like the way it feels in a quilt, and I like the fact I don't have to quilt really close together!

However this is one of those things everyone has their own opinion about batting!

schaffers 05-17-2011 05:54 AM

THanks. I have just been using the packaged batting.

I love warm and natural or warm and white.

amandasgramma 05-17-2011 06:32 AM

I agree......Warm and Natural or warm and white. I do EVERYTHING with that batting.

merrylouw 05-17-2011 06:34 AM

Me, too. Warm and natural (or white).

One more vote for Warm & Natural

schaffers 05-17-2011 06:51 AM

Well, it sounds like warm and natural wins! Thanks for your input. Now I need to decide how much to buy! Thanks again.

I just bought Warm & Natural by the bolt online. I get a bolt every 2 years. The cost per yard makes it worth it if you can afford it.

I really like Warm and Natural as well.

bsktkeeper 05-17-2011 07:47 AM

If you can buy a bolt ,especially with a 60% off coupon.

The type of batting you use depends on a couple of factors, price is one but seldom the main one. Most people that I've delt with prefer 80/20 (thats 80% cotton & 20% poly). 100% cotton is good as well because it breathes, and there's Bamboo cotton blend, Soy blend and wool.

Last of all there's polyester, which is cheapest of the lot.

What are the advantages of the 80/20 over 100% cotton? Anyone have pros/cons of each?

Another Warm & Natural/white person here. I also bought by the bolt with a 50% off coupon a couple of years ago. It was at a local Joanns so no shipping.

MrsGuava 05-17-2011 09:01 AM

I only use the warm and natural too. I was in the store and they had some on the big rolll that was $13.99 a yard and much thinner...i will buy that with my next coupon.
I priced the "green" batting...read the label. You would not want to use this where a person might be sleeping and need to get out. It is made with recycled stuff and would have fumes when burning.
Our AC Moore and Michaels and Joannes honor each others coupons too...ASK.
