I am new to this, although have been reading the messages for a few months. I need to know how to download embroidery designs to a memory card for my Janome 9700 and then how to use it. I do not have a Digitizer Jr., but understand I can still download new designs. Anyone know of a good tutorial? I didn't find anything on the Janome site, but maybe I missed it. Thanks for any help! I know if there is a good site to explain this, someone will let me know! Everyone seems so helpful :) :-)

How do you write to your memory card? Do you have a box that it goes into? If so, it should show up as a drive on your computer and you could possibly just drag and drop.

I use another program, Embird, to adjust my designs and then I save them to my memory card and take it to my machine. I can also connect directly from my machine to my computer and save directly to the machine.

I don't have a Janome, but I'd imagine it might be similar.

Thanks for the help! One problem is that I'm not great at computer stuff, but will have to get better. I have been at the embroidery machine such a short time with so much to learn!

I just looked up the Janome 9700 and I think it takes a Compact flash memory card. So, with your sewing machine, did you get a memory card reader/writer device that plugs into your computer. It would have the same size slot as the slot that's on your sewing machine. That's the first step. Please confirm, and if you do, we'll try to get you to the next step.

No, nothing came with the machine. We do have a card reader for our regular computer. Will that help? Thanks for responding!

I own the Janome MC9700.
You have to have the Janome Customizer 11000 Embroidery Layout Software, the card reader/writer & the memory card.

Great. Thanks Fancyfoot.

OK Retired, you need to plug your card reader into your computer. Once thats done, put the memory card into the slot. Next you need to open the "My Computer" so that you can see an icon for the memory card reader.

OK, but can't do this right at this moment. I'll be in touch! Thank you!

I have the janome 9700 all you need is a card reader for the computer that can take the compact flash card and a PCMCIA adapter for the sewing machine.

as long as the embroidery design is in jef format you can just copy it to the flash card making sure it goes into the folder called Embf5 on the card. You dont need to use customiser at all ..

there are a couple of good freebie programs out there to convert your designs if they arent in jef. One is trusizer

feel free to ask me any other questions ... gotta love my janome :)

I just bought the 9700 and did get a Kodak 50n1 for the usb port. I also got what I think is generic flash card because I plugged the reader/writer into the usb port with the card and it did show on the computer and it did show 2 folders. What I want to know is do I purchase more flash cards and do they fit the card that fits into the sewing machine slot. I just don't understand getting the designs to the computer then to a flash card. Then to the machine. Sorry if I am not clear cause I am a little confused.

For the $$ you paid for the machine, they left out a good bit of information. You bought a computerized machine. There should be information with the machine telling you what you need, or where to get the information or tools you need to do the embroidery. YOU NEED TO CONTACT YOUR DEALER to get the appropriate help. good luck.
