I want to make my boyfriend a quilt for Christmas. He is a pretty big guy, 6'5". So I need a big one.

I'm making a Roman Stripe pattern. I even mocked up the pattern in a file, which you can see here.... http://www.theoneandonlynorthpole.com/billsquilt.pdf (it's a pdf file).

I'm going to need lots of black, obviously. Blocks will be 6" finished. I figure the center will be 72" by 96" when I sew it together. I was thinking a 3" inner border, and then a 4-6" border on the outside in black. The back I was thinking of just getting a couple extra yards of the colors from the front and making a scrappy type back (suggestions welcome!)

Can anyone be a genius and help me out a bit?
