have a question trying to find out about a machine i found on carport had been there for a long time decided to ask about it and was told i could have it for $50.00 i bought it and brought it home just fell in love with it still has its belt in drawer and a long bobbin and bobbin case just has singer on it and some art only other thing is a plate with numbers on it how could i find out when it was made and what type it has had a rough life want to restore and i have no idea where to start

thanks it does have Egyptians on it. my camera and the lighting is not the best in the world. They did not even have it cover so it was exposed to the weather but it still works i have not done a project with it but it does sew a piece of scrap

Go look on the Singer site under serial numbers....the serial number will tell you where it was made, the year and how many. Also go to the vintage machine shop as QuiltinCowgirl suggested...lots of great advice and people...Lostn51 (Billy) is a treadle fanatic as are many others (me included).

I found an old singer, made in 1939. It looks like it is in the same shape as yours. The guy at the thrift store wanted 39.00 for it. No attachements, no power cord, no case or anything. Just the black rusty machine. I would not know where to start on restoration, so I passed on it.

mine has little rust thank goodness and my hubby has had one of his own ever since we got married that his mom gave him so he old it and checked it out before we bought it
