Just saw this quilt in the pictures section and was wondering if someone could name the pattern for me.

The first one might be Kaliedoscope, and the second one looks like a brick quilt with mortar.

The black, white and gray quilt is Kaleidoscope.

Sorry, I delivered a bad link. Will go back and try again.

I ran across a free online pattern. You won't believe how easy it is, the trick is in alternating the values of grays or black and whites that you use. I'll try and find the page again. brb.

Link for pattern is here: http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/home/ka...uilt-block.htm
As I was saying, print out the pattern twice, then go back and you'll see the same block, just done in different shadings to achieve and completely different looking overall Kaleidoscope with many facets you can't see in the simple outlay above. |
The picture of the Kaleidoscope in different color paths is here: http://www.quiltville.com/blukaleidoscope.jpg

I believe there is another name for this it's something with sea in it. It has the illusion of circles. I just cannot remember the name.

No, storm at sea isn't made of 2 alternating blocks - it's got one main block and then 2 sashing blocks. But the effect is pretty similar.

Why don't you simply PM the maker and ask her what patterns she used? That's a whole lot easier than asking opinions from everyone else, isn't it?
|
The black/white pattern is a Kaleidoscope. I found it in a book called The Big Book of Scrap Quilts. I got the templates at Joann's. You really don't need the book, just the templates.

Here's the link to the Quilt-in-a-Day Kaleidoscope book I used to make my Kaleidoscope class sample a few years back.
