Sorry everyone this is so vague but I'm hoping someone will recognize it. A few months back I saw either a tutorial or pictures of a quilt block. It was bright colors and black. You draw your design that kind of looks like a sun on the color, then cut on the lines. When you applique them to two black background blocks you get a reverse effect. Do any of you have a clue what I'm referring to? I evidently didn't bookmark it properly because now I can't find it.....Thanks

Is there a way to do a search with key words? I'm asking for myself, too.

I remember this, you put one half of the cut out on one block, and the other negative half on the other? I can't remember who posted it though.

I missed that first issue of Quiltmaker where they explained the technique.
Would be nice if we could find the tutorial.

i remember it also. it was a block with positive and negative curved parts, right? you cut it apart and then ....... ?

it involved fusible somehow. amma, are we thinking of the same one? who the heck was it?

i think what she did was start with 6 blocks, lets say 10". lets say 3 pink, 3 blue. on 1 pink and 1 blue she used iron on fusible, 2 sided. she stacked them and cut a shape. lets say, a drunkard's path. she took 1 corner pink piece and fused it to 1 blue. she took 1 large pink and fused it to 1 blue piece. she either did or didn't stitch around the raw edge. she did the same with the blues onto pink. she ended up with 4 finished blocks that looked like they had been pieced. after finishing they finished at 9.5".

amma, does that sound about right to you?

Maybe that's the one?

Oh Bless you ladies! You are all sooooo brilliant. TSanchez, that isn't the one but it is stunning! Easypeasy, that (the butterflies) wasn't it, but I really like it and will keep that one for a later project. The second one was it!!!! Thank you thank you!
