Help!!! First quilt
Hello everyone, so I have my first quilt top, backing, and the back side, I squared it up (at least I thought I did,) but my sides are uneven. The top and bottom side are 26.5 and 27 and the sides are 31.5 and 32! What should I do, any tips would be great. I also haven’t bound it yet, sorry I don’t know all the sewing lingo yet.

Being that close, I'd tend to say 'leave it'. It may not even be noticable while in use.

I agree with SBG. I don’t think it will be noticeable. It won’t make a difference binding the quilt. Congratulations on finishing your first quilt. |
That is really close for a first quilt!

I usually put large borders on my quilt top so I can trim a little off if necessary. A half inch difference isn’t bad and unless you are putting it into a judged competition, no one will notice.

I would be curious the difference. It’s possible a seam didn’t get ironed out.
I do agree to leave it and finish the quilt. My quilts seldom end up square after the LA quilter does them. |
No one ever told me my quilt had to be the exact same on each two sides. It wouldn't have mattered to me if they did anyway. LOL
A 1/2" was acceptable even with the well known teachers I have taken classed from. If adding a border it has been drilled into every quilter to take measurement across and down and then average the difference if any both ways. After quilting the quilt will be squared up (cut the excess backing and binding off) by the quilter or yourself and then add the amount of binding you need to go around it. |
That is very attentive for a first quilt. you are way ahead of of where I was. I don't think I measured my quilt sides for over a year of "beginning" quilting. that small of a difference will never be noticed. Binding will work on even the wonkiest of shapes. Congrats! can't wait to see pics!

Even if a quilt is square before it's quilted, it sometimes gets a little skewed during the quilting process. You might find that it's more nearly rectangular after it's quilted, but either way, it's just fine. Congratulations on your first quilt. May it be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
