Help with FMQ of Hidden Wells Quilt

I am finishing up a quilt made of batiks and highly starched, Dream 100% natural cotton batting and 100% cotton backing. It's sandwiched and ready to FMQ. I've been FMQing my quilts on my Brother INNOVA-IS 2000 for some time now and have not had this issue. My needle continues to skip stitches. If you have some helpful advice, I would love to have it.

I have changed thread and bobbin thread
I have changed needles 4 times
I have tried different tensions

So frustrated!

Have you checked the height of your foot?

Batiks are woven tighter then quilting cotton. I might put a drop of thread heaven on my thread. Make sure your foot is just above the sandwich.

Thank you, GEMRN and Tartan! I'm using Brothers' quilting foot but I have not checked its height! Never really knew that that could be a problem. I will experiment with my other FMQ feet! Yolanda

GEMRN and Tartan! Thank you for responding to my post. Just to let you know, I did change feet and that helped greatly but my machine was still skipping once in a while. After several inches of stopping, tying and restarting, I finally put a 100/16 needle in and viola that was the main problem. I don't like using that large a needle for FMQ, however, this quilt is quite bright and the holes are not a problem. Thank you again for trying to help me. I so appreciate it! Yolanda

I always quilt with a 16 needle, works for me everytime.

One other thing that you may want to check is the distance between your bars and the machine. If the quilt is to high and not close enough to the bed of the machine this to can impact the skipping stitches. Best of luck.
