help with fmq please
 

I know I am doing something wrong and it's probably simple but.... I can't get my pfaff 2020 tiptronic to work for me. I have put the darning foot on, lowered the feed dogs, taken off the walking foot and even sprayed my table with sewing silicon to make moving the fabric easier but when I lower the foot and begin to sew, the fabric is too hard to move around. Lines are ok but anything else like curves or wiggles are almost impossible. If I don't lower the foot, the stitches don't work. I loosened the tension but it doesn't help. Any ideas would be appreciated. Ten years ago, I was successful in a class but I must be missing something this time. It figures cause I finally felt ready to fmq again. You know the urge struck and I'm stuck-lol :) Thanks for reading!

can you decrease the presser foot pressure? usually a dial at the top of most machines that i've owned.

Are you wearing machiners gloves or something similar? I have to wear gloves or it's just too hard to move the quilt around for me.
Have you tried re threading your machine and the bobbin too? Try both of these suggestions and hopefully it will begin to work for you.

This sounds like the fabric is too heavy and it is dragging. The fabric needs support and some slack in order to be able to move the fabric under the needle. Try putting a table on the left side of the work area to support the bulk weight of the fabric and see if that helps you.

Also, Mikes girl is right about the gloves. I use some fabric ones with the little dots of plastic on the palm area that are gardening gloves. They are much less expensive and work great.

Pfaffs have a "mezzanine" stop on the presser foot that will keep the foot just above the fabric. When you lower the foot push backwards just a bit on the lever and you should find the mezzanine stop.
