Help! Frozen with indecision!

I purchased a refurbished Voyager 17 and my hubby set it up. First full size quilt is loaded now, after a practice piece. But. How would I quilt this one? An all over meander would be okay, but I am ready to branch out into something different, but what?
It's just simple rectangles made from shirts. Feathers would hardly be appropriate, as it is a quilt for our 19yo son. What would you suggest? |
Looks like this is a perfect opportunity to try out your new toy and do samplers...something different in each block.
I don't do LA quilting, but it's just a thought. I've seen such beautiful and creative quilting on this board. |
Google images of "modern quilting" or Angela Walters. You will get tons of ideas. This quilt really looks like it would benefit from some Modern quilting designs.

I agree with the posts so far. I would do a sampler of more modern patterns. You could get some other ideas from Leah Day's website on modern patterns of meandering. Start doodling.

What about something like lightning bolts? Similar to an overall meander, but with sharp edges and points -- maybe jazzier for a 19yo guy.

What are his interests, bikes, baskeball, baseball, computers??? how about images of something he likes.

How about the "Greek key" design in each square. Do you have thick ruler for your machine as straight lines are hard to FMQ without one?

Google Pam Clarke design with lines ..it may give you some ideas

I like this suggestion! |
It does look perfect to try something different in each block. I'm not sure if I have the "vision" to actually quilt my own quilts. Hope it is something that can be learned - I'm certainly going to try. Good luck with your machine, I'm sure you will have a blast with it. Be sure to post pictures of this one when completed.
