Help with Green Bag Pattern

I wonder if any of you lovely ladies have seen instructions or can tell me how to do a patchwork cover for the cloth green bags used as shopping bags. The cover is sewn onto the outside of the green bag. It makes a lovely bag for taking into the supermarket, or shops and I saw a lady carrying a bag like this and I asked her about it, but she was in a hurry and said you cut fabric, line it with iron on pellum and them I can't remember what she said about covering the bag. Have looked at a green bag but don't seem to be able to work out how it was sewn onto it. Hope this makes sense and someone out there can help me.

I just sew my practice blocks or ophan blocks facedown to a piece of muslin, using a 14" seam all around, leaving an opening for turning inside-out, and stitch it to the front of the bag. Sometimes, I leave the top unsttched to the bag to use as a pocket.

I have just done a simple bag pattern my friend gave to me sewing them out of 100% cotton fabric. They are easy to throw in the laundry if they get dirty.
