Help! with "Hanging Gardens" quilt pattern........

I Love this pattern by Cozy Quilt Designs (Hanging Gardens). I have read and re-read the directions and I am sooo confused. If anybody out there has made this could you give me some suggestions on how to figure this out? (OR how you figured it out!) Is the Accent (I assume the black diamonds) the same fabric as the 1st skinny border? also, On the "A" Sets-why are there 3 cuts of 4 1/2 X 6 1/2, when set "B" is 1 cut of 6 1/2 X 8 1/2 and Set "C" is 1 cut of 8 1/2x 10 1/2 ?? Since the directions (all 8 pages) are in black and white I can't tell what is supposed to go where. The Cover is naturally in color but these are the screwiest instructions I have ever seen. I won't even go into the background and border directions. I am using fat quarters instead of WOF the pattern is using. soooo I figure as long as I cut One fabric in the above mentioned sizes - I Should be OK !!! ??? I took my first quilting class in 1979 and have Nevernot been able to figure out a pattern before. I feel really stupid. I even took it to a LQS and They were scratching their heads. soooo, if someone out there has made this - Help! This is a beautiful quilt and I see it @ Every quilt show I go to so it can't be That difficult. One funny thing... when I was asking @ the quilt shop- 2 customers bot the pattern cause they fell in love with Mine! I wanted to give them my phone # so they could call me when they figured it out ! lol !! Thanks in advance!

I have never made that pattern but am fortunate enough to live close to Cozy Quilt Shop and I'm sure that if you are having trouble with the pattern that you can email Daniela who owns the shop for help. The pattern was designed by Georgette who is Daniela's mother. Here is the email address; [email protected]

Get yourself some graph paper and draw it out. This quilt is set on point. It really is not difficult, just one block that's a log cabin variation with a 4-patch as the hearth block. It has sashing between the blocks that are two strips wide (same width as the log strips) with another 4-patch as the cornerstones.

The picture of the pattern I pulled up was not large/clear enough to determine whether the sashings continued around the whole blocks on the outside edges, but they could. Try drawing it both ways and add in your setting triangles.

All those different sizes are probably the sashing pieces for your block. I don't usually cut these pieces to fit. I use a long strip the appropriate width and trim them to size, but most people think cutting them to size is more accurate. Patterns can be very difficult for me to understand sometime and I have used Jan in VA's method of drawing the block one step at a time.

I went to their site http://www.cozyquilt.com/Aspx/Produc...?productID=903 as I was unfamiliar with the pattern. Did you notice on their site a PDF file for fabric requirements, it has a few suggestions too. Sometimes you just need to start at the 1st step and move to the next without reading too far ahead, hope you can find someone who has made it to get you past this roadblock.

Here's a member who made it, maybe send her a PM http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t148397.html

Thanks again for everybodies help! We had a "Road Trip" from WA to Idaho yesterday so I had plenty of time to Read the directions. Think I have it figured out. I was just getting ahead of myself and getting confused. Not unusual ! As I haven't purchased the background fabric yet I will cut out the print strips and then *sigh* look again @ cutting all those triangles. Not as hard as I thot After reading thru the Whole pattern. Thanks for coming to my rescue!! will post pic when finished......

Hi borneoquilt, you can go to Jordan Fabrics and she has a tutorial on this quilt, maybe this will help if you see someone making the quilt instead of just reading the pattern and trying to figure it out. Hope this helps you some..

Thanks for mentioning the Jordan's website. I've been wanting to make one of these quilts.
