I think I would do diagonal stitching. I also quilt 1/4 inch from seams instead of STD. One can do as many rows as you like they do not have to be equal distance from each other.

My vote is for a diagonal crosshatch using the serpentine stitch. Just did this on a quilt of my own. It looks really nice! And you can use your walking foot. Personally, I envy the people who are awesome stipplers. Stippling hates me.... I'm seriously "skeered" of it! Guess I prefer the order of crosshatching to the more free-form awesomeness of stippling. I'm just that kind of gal. :)

What about stitching a 1/4" away from the "ditch" and a medium tan for the thread?

I believe this would be perfect for this quilt.

Since I am such a total clutz, I don't try to stitch in the ditch, I just try to stitch near the ditch. Still doesn't work. Practice, practice, practice. But enjoy it.

"Wiggle in the ditch "would be fun and quick and give the strips a great flare
and deminsional look.

For a newbie you did a great job. I'm also a newbie and I had to shelve my first attempt at lining up squares. Ugggggggg.....they don't match up. I had trouble with sashing and borders. I did a bad thing and didn't follow the directions on how to sew them on. I will never do that again. :D

Lovely quilt. Stippling would look great.

How about stitching Blocks in each blocks.... start at about 1/2 inch from seams and make different size blocks in each one.. or the Cross hatching sounds ok...
