Help - I don't know how to hang a quilt!
 

I think hanging a quilt involves fishing line. I won't be hanging any thing larger than throw size, about 48 x 60, maybe a tad larger. How do you attach the fishing line to the quilt? to the wall? or maybe you don't use fishing line at all? I have no clue. I have about six ready to hang and so far have put up some small wall hangings using straight pins. TIA

I'm sure there are a number of good methods. I have hung 2 as follows: I sew a 'sleeve', basically just a tube of fabric about 2 inches shorter than the width of the quilt and hand sew it to the upper quilt back. At the hardware store I buy a piece of wood as long as the sleeve, 1 inch wide and about 3/8 inch deep. To each end of the wood, I attach screw eyes (Google the term if you want a photo.). Slip the wood with the screw eyes on each end into the sleeve. Measure carefully how far apart the center of the screw eyes are. You need to put 2 nails in the wall that distance apart. Once the nails up, just hook the screw eyes over the nails and you are done. Nothing shows on the outside except the quilt. I hope this explanation was clear.

I put a cafe curtain rod on the wall. Use either a sleeve on the back of the quilt to run the rod thru. Or use those rings with clips on them to hang the quilt from. No fishing line

I use café curtain rods also. The good thing is they only hang about an inch from the wall and it creates dimension. On larger throw size quilts, I have even hung a matching rod on the bottom to pull the quilt down. That involves sewing two sleeves. The bottom one is not attached to the wall, the weight of the rod holds it down.

I make a three part sleeve, the centre section being 15" long; I insert a piece of lathing into the "sectioned" sleeve that is cut to fit the full width of the quilt. I put nails in the wall 15" apart and can interchange whatever quilt or wallhanging I like on those same two nails. After pounding a few holes into my walls.... I found this method some place on the net, not sure where.
