. Fabric with fold is to be faced towards you and then to be cut 2.5 inches strips of every fabric . Cut the fabric one at a time if you are a beginner.......I am not a beginner but this is sure making me feel like one .I thought this would be like a "short trip...I am confused by these insrtructions..can anyone help??

My only reply to that link is that it is a very badly written tutorial. Too confusing!! Why not try asking one of the board members w/a bargello as their avatar for a bit of help decoding these instructions or see if they have a better set of directions that you could use.

Those directions almost sound like they lost something while being translated maybe?
I would look for another pattern :D:D:D

I can see why you are confused....It sounds like the instructions were translated into English from a foreign (to English speakers) language. I don't think I could make a quilt with these instructions, and I do have a rather general idea of how a bargello is constructed.

So sorry you are having this problem. It is disappointing.

I think there are major mistakes in this pattern. You can't cut strips 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" wide at the same time.

Barb did a tutorial in the tutorial section.

Sounds like some instructions we got with the kids toys from foreign countries.

That tutorial should be hung, drawn, and quartered and then stomped on with size 14 shoes!

I'd strongly suggest putting this one out of your memory and looking elsewhere.

Holy Moly!! That was the worst tut I have ever seen. That person should be ashamed and remove it. No wonder you couldn't understand it.

Could they possibly mean cut strips 3.5 inches width of fabric, then cut those strips 2,5 inches wide (selvedge to selvedge) so you have rectangles 3.5 x 2.5? I've never done one, and it was very confusing. You're probably right it was a translation done poorly.

At the bottom of this page there is a link to the author's website. There are instructions there on how to make the quilt. Maybe they are better.

<cackle> I'd be more amazed if you could understand those instructions!! I'd bet they were written in another language and then "translated" by somebody that also doesn't speak English as a first language.

That was my first thought also. It must of been translated to be that broke up. Maybe you could find another beginner bargello pattern to make

Hahahaha I'm cracking up here. This tutorial is for "beginners"?? I'm still fairly new to quilting, but I wouldn't quite consider myself a beginner (just because I am familiar with terms and techniques and have a few quilts under my belt - still LOTS to learn though, of course) maybe I`m a novice quilter...

Anyway. If a TRUE beginner tried to do that, they would never, ever quilt again.

Sounds like the person just transcribed their notes, cuz that's rhe kind of 'shorthand' I write down to help me remember how I did something. Not very helpful to anyone else!

what I get out this is 3 1/2" length of fabric (42") and then into 3 1/2" blocks?????

It's probably been run through a translation program.

Those often literally translate every word of the original instructions yet don't make sense because usually when you go from one language to the next you can't translate every word and make sense.

thank you all for your input know I know it is not just me . I am going in search of a anothe rset of instructions . I do not think it will be really hard to do . I would like to be as good at it as Olga ( on here). She has beautiful ones. once a gain thank you all & GBU

???length of fabric? wide of fabric?? this doesn't sound like english was a first language and it was badly translated.

learn the method from any of half a dozen tutes here or elsewhere
and then use that design if you like it.
