I sew 2 pieces together about the size of place mat and donate them to the local animal shelter to use for the cat cages.

Look at this designer circular vest. I have made it from fleece for little girls and it is adorable. You can use the trim suggested, or none at all. It is quick and can be a no-sew project if you like.

Yes. cut them into large pieces, sew them together and bring where they are sewed together as well as the sides.
I've done this and they come out really nice. Mix colors, design and make a conversation throw from them. |
Another idea - cut the fleece 12 inches long x the width of the fleece - you'll have a scarf. But wait - to finish it, sew a separating zipper down the front, starting at the "bottom" of the scarf. Under your coat, it will look like a vest ! Let me know if you do this.

It also makes super warm pillowcases. |
Mittens.....really easy and kids love them.

If you have enough fabric you can make kid's pants. My sister has made these for all of her grandchildren and they love them so much they have asked for another pair so they have one when the other is being washed. Bless my sister she also made some for me and I tell you the kids are right they are the most comfortable and warm pants I own. Try it.

I make a lot of fleece rag quilts & everyone loves them. It leaves more of a fringe than rag, but are very warm. I Always use two or more colors in a double layer & alternate the colors on front & back. You can even use your strip scraps up doing this.

Square up a piece about 6" longer than you actually want for a blanket. Cut a 3" square from each corner. Fold each edge in 1 1/2" and seam 1 1/4" from the folded edge. Make 1" cuts ever 1/2" all the way around your blanket. With your fingers or a large crochet hook start with one loop and pull the next one through it. Do this all the way around the blanket until you come to the last loop. Cut it through the middle or on either side, loop it through your first loop then hand stitch it back together. This will give you a fleece blanket with a beautiful "braided" looking edge. Kids seem to love them like this. You can do the same with smaller left over squares. When the stitching is done and the loops are cut, put two together and crochet one loop from one side with a loop from the other piece until you reach the fourth side. Put a pillow form in and finish the last side. Now you have a matching blanket and small pillow---absolutely wonderful for traveling. I almost forgot, when stitching down the edges use a bit of a zigzag or other stretchable stitch. |
I use it as batting for quilts that will get a lot of washing - such as for children/babies. It holds up a lot better than any quilt batting through all of the washings.

Great battimg for chemo quilts as clothing or blankets used for this have to be washed everytime a person has chemo treatments, to keep the chemo chemicals from spreading onto anyone who might touch them and making them sick
|
Do you have a pattern?
|
I made some seatbelt covers to velcro on so the strap doesn't hurt my neck.
|
I bought a piece and am using it instead of a matress pad for my grandson's crib. It is soft and it washes up beautifully every time.

Pillows, mittens, hats.... Give them to kids to make things.... I teach and my students are very creative when working with fleece! Let your creative juices flow! :-)

thanks Fleece booties or winter slipper socks with gripper feet are great. |
Yikes! I don't know.
|
I bought several fleece blankets on sale . It got really cold here, so I made a lounge/bath robe out of one, needs no lining, cuffs I made with flannel . No more freezing in the mornings.
|
Make small "blankies" and donate to the local animal shelter. They are always looking for blankets/pads for the cages.
|
I make taggie blankies. I take 2 pcs of 12'' or 14'' or 16''[even bigger ] of fleece and take the same sizes or different sizes of all kinds of washable ribbons and sew them around/in between the 2pcs. I either sew them inside out and turn or I just put the 2 together and sew on the outside. I love using all sorts of kiddie, baby, or any kinds of colors and widths. Also I use from 5 to 8 ribbons. Just not too big of loops as not to have a baby get a hand caught in. Little ones love the feel. Also can use flannel. I even make them into pillows. You can probably look them up on a site.I just bought a bunch more remnants to make more and to make fleece blankets for the babies in the NICU at the hosp. Don't need to be big for the preemies. I also use a wavy blade in my rotary cutter for the edges. Good luck!
|
I use it to back quilts, usually without batting, sewn with the 'pillowcase' or 'birthing' method. That is I pin the top and back face to face, sew around the edges. Then I turn it right side out and quilt it. It makes a really cuddly baby or lap quilt.

You can make rag quilts out of remnants of fleece, just sew 2 squares together, you don't need the extra center piece, it's heavy enough.
You can also make covers for your hangers with it - adult or children. They will keep your clothes from slipping off the hangers. You can also make "patchwork" scarves, "butting" the seams together and sewing with a zig zag or decorative stitch. You can also make a rug out of fleece by braiding pieces together. There are free patterns for fleece socks, hats, scarves on the internet, as well as the rug pattern. If you can't find something, and would like copies of patterns, just PM me. I can give you the sites but I also know some of the patterns I've downloaded over the years are no longer available and I would be happy to send you copies of what I have. |
What length and width of fabric do you use for the nursing home shawls? Do you finish all edges?
|
Piece them together and make blankets for foster kids or Linus Blankets

This is what I do with small pieces of fleece - I donate them to the pediatrics ward at my local hosp. My daguther drew out the pattern for me. They are very easy to make and the kids love them.
I also make fleece hats and scarves that I donate to the local charity that helps people in need. "hug buddies" |
