HELP - I need suggestions, again.

I had posted a picture before asking what color to use for the sky in a "Flying Geese" quilt. I thought I knew what I wanted & then some suggested a gray. Which I had not even thought of. So now which one would you choose for the sky? The one on the left or the one on the right. Thanks for all suggestions. :)

I would choose the lightest. It will give you a good background for the beautiful colors.

PurplePassion 06-24-2013 09:07 AM

The lighter one on the left.

Tartan 06-24-2013 09:07 AM

Lighter one for more contrast.

bearisgray 06-24-2013 09:11 AM

Can you find an even lighter gray?

I like the lighter gray with the darker colors, and the darker gray with the lighter colors.

That didn't help much, did it?

ranger 06-24-2013 09:15 AM

I like the lighter one.

omacookie 06-24-2013 09:17 AM

The lighter the grey the better. Hugs

So far everybody agrees with my husband on the lighter gray. I had thought the darker one for a stormy looking sky.

Sallyjane 06-24-2013 09:23 AM

I like the lighter grey.

QuiltnNan 06-24-2013 09:27 AM

The lighter one

sahm4605 06-24-2013 09:35 AM

I like the lighter one. but that is just me. if you want it to look more stormy then go darker. maybe a slightly bluer grey more of a stormy color to me but that is kinda what a stormy sky looks to me like a dark blueish gray.

Prism99 06-24-2013 09:38 AM

The lighter gray.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 06-24-2013 09:47 AM

I like the lighter one and I think it will be a wonderful combination. Please share when it is finished. I just love those fabrics.

DebraK 06-24-2013 11:03 AM

yep, the lighter one.

cjsews 06-24-2013 12:33 PM

I like them both. Those are some awesome colors for your geese.

I also like the darker one. It is richer looking to me. The other is very pale and not saturated with color like the geese are. The dark one falls into the back ground and the light one come forward. I covered up half the screen to see which one looked best to me, imho.
peace

The lighter one or black.

dunster 06-24-2013 01:14 PM

I would pick the darker one.

dunster 06-24-2013 01:16 PM

Actually, you might be able to use both - maybe the dark one in the top, lighter one underneath - or dark one going in an arc across the quilt - something to play with and think about.

alikat110 06-24-2013 04:41 PM

Both look good. I love the idea of darker for a stormy look.

This is what I was thinking, too! Often a rainbow is seen at the end of a storm when the sky is changing from dark to light. Going to be a beautiful quilt.

ILoveToQuilt 06-24-2013 06:00 PM

Like them both, but I'd go for the darker one. JMHO. Please, post a photo of the finished quilt...your colors are beautiful!

I almost keep my opinion to myself because of all the votes for the lighter one but personally I like the darker gray, I think it makes the other colors appear richer, that's just my opinion:)

maminstl 06-26-2013 05:04 AM

I think they are both good, but the darker one adds a little more drama - would be my choice.

TnBecky 06-26-2013 05:43 AM

I agree with using the darker gray for a better contrast. So that's what it will be. I do thank everyone for there opinions & suggestions. This is one to do in the fall.

tessagin 06-26-2013 05:54 AM

I think the lighter is best.

Rose Bagwell 06-26-2013 06:03 AM

Lighter one.

nananurse 06-26-2013 06:04 AM

Lighter grey, or even lighter than the one pictured.

cpcarolyn 06-26-2013 07:06 AM

I vote for the lighter one on the left.

Rose S. 06-26-2013 07:15 AM

I like both and can't wait to see it finished...

MargeD 06-26-2013 09:05 AM

Personally, I think the lighter grey would really make those bright colors pop.

matraina 06-26-2013 01:25 PM

I like the lighter one!

beateannkeith 06-26-2013 04:34 PM

The lighter gray.

I agree, the darker one is richer looking.

The trouble with asking for other's opinions is that you will get them!! Do what you like!!

conniemaried 06-26-2013 06:28 PM

I think darker is better.

bizzibee 06-26-2013 07:21 PM

I would use the lighter one.
