Help identify this pattern?

Help. A friend's grandmother made this quilt and called it "Road to Jericho." I can't find a pattern that looks like this one. The roadway is made by turning the squares and it looks like each road crosses both corners of the block. All blocks are identical. Anyone have a clue for this simple pattern?

I hope someone comes up with the name I have been searching for a pattern for my brother and this looks like the one I want to do

ckcowl 04-06-2012 02:54 PM

The one I made almost like this was called crazy drunkards path. Mine had crazy quilt like centers on each block then a narrow arc then a quarter circle in 2 opposite corners.

Very interesting.

Thanks, Woody. I searched and searched and didn't come close. "Snakestrail" sure looks like it. I can see why she renamed it.....snakes give me the creeps.

Snakes trail. There are lots of variations and I think I remember seeing a website/blog somewhere where multiple variations were shown.

What an interesting quilt - just when you think you have seen them all, a new (old) one pops up. Thanks for the site.

I agree it is a Drunkard's path variation.

fabric_lover 04-09-2012 05:38 AM

Just make several blocks-you stated they are the same, only 1 block-then twist and turn them to get the path.

My guess is some quilter made up the pattern as she/he went along.

PatQuilts 04-10-2012 07:03 PM

just saw a similar quilt in a women's household magazine from many years ago. the pattern was called drunkard's path.

And upon further inspection, I finally SEE what you have all been saying. Every block is the same- just set at different turns to make the lines snake thru the quilt.

lwbuchholz 04-13-2012 03:36 AM

The link won't work for me either. I took out everything and went to Early women masters site and found lots of quilt listings but no snakes trail. I even searched but can't find it. I love the quilt.
