This is an older J C penny's machine...
I have no idea year and other than over the needle on the left side the Name of the machine is called "Penny's"
The sticker on the motor is completely blank the writing warn off.
On the left front there was a plate stating made in Japan exclusively for JC Penny and underneath was a small plate engraved with Z4926878. When lifting up the machine to put away in the storing cupboard there was a paper tag seen in pic as coming off that said RSMCO model...103, as well as 115v A.C. D.C. which that I believe to be that it is noting its voltage and electrical use..
Please anything would be great!!! so I can get a manual and know what to look for to get her up and working? maybe?

Look on the bottom of the machine, there should be a JC number in the casting. It will look like raised letters under the paint. If you find one let us know what it is.

A JC or JA number would help me locating the manufacturer. It really favors a Brother in several ways but I need some numbers to see what it is.

The RSMCO is making me think "Riccar Sewing Machine Company", That is why I need the JA and JC numbers off of it.

Prety machine, I love the color!

Oh, my favorite sewing machine color - very pretty machine! :)

I passed up a Fotomatic IV this color on craigslist a few years ago and I've been kicking myself ever since - I really LOVED the look of that machine.

Looks like it's got a vertical bobbin for FMQ! :) How wonderful!

Why do you say "a vertical bobbin for FMQ? You can't FMQ on a drop in bobbin???

I had this same question. I FMQ just fine with a drop in bobbin on a dinky mechanical Brother with no problems except "user"!!

You can free motion on a horizontal or Drop-In bobbin machine but the thread path isn't as forgiving as it is on a vertical machine. The thread has to turn a corner - so to speak - before it is picked up by the hook; this can cause uneven stitches, dropped stitches or looping on the back of your project.

I have 3 Drop-In bobbin machines- a Singer 404 straight stitch with the card table, a Singer Spartan that I want to turn into a handcrank, and my Brother PC6500 which was never intended to FMQ and you can't make it do it either! The other 7 or 8 are all vertical machines. I have a Singer 31-15 industrial with the feed dogs removed and a straight stitch plate on it, if you want to FMQ in a hurry - hoo boy!

I'm sorry I didn't realize someone had asked me about something or I'd have answered sooner.

Mitch's mom is right - you can do free-motion quilting on a LOT of different machines including those with drop-in bobbins. My first pieced quilts were quilted on a 401 and I often do darning-type repairs on my slants.

It's just that the vertical bobbin is more forgiving, as she says - fewer skipped stitches, no "eyelashes," etc. :)

Google is your friend. There are a couple websites out there that deal with older machines and people who frequent them are helpful.
